I just created a bowl for attorneys on the autism spectrum/autistic attorneys. I am sharing here in case this might be relevant to anyone here: https://joinfishbowl.com/bowl_xg2f38fuh2 My son is on the spectrum and I realize I likely am, too, after researching more about autism to help him. Feel free to join the bowl if it may be of help to anyone here!

Something that helps me is Focusmate. I schedule a time to work on webcam with someone else silently (they do whatever they’re doing and I do my work). (By schedule I mean even a time 20 minutes from now). That’s what saved me from a last minute brief back when I was in lit, and I was unmedicated the entire time I was a litigator. Seeing another human also suffering through work for 30 minutes to an hour (that wasn’t a coworker and couldn’t judge me for procrastinating) makes me focus and gets me into flow.
You might also talk to your doctor about non-controlled substances for ADD since you won’t run out of scripts (just a suggestion. You and your doctor know you better than I could). It’s ironic that a medicine for ADD requires monthly prescription with no refills allowed, and we’re likely to forget. If you have a non-controlled one, you can get multiple months of refills and have a service like Amazon pharmacy or Walmart auto refill it every month and mail it to your house so you can’t forget and don’t run out 😊 just a thought but it’s up to you/your doctor.
thank you for these suggestions, i love this! i’m so reliant on meds at this point forget they are not the *only* answer.
I totally feel you on this! I always set myself up with "I'll do it tomorrow" and tomorrow comes and goes and before I know it I'm rushing to get it done before the deadline.
i feel so seen! hahah. it’s the “okay i’ll leave this and wake up at 430a and just beast mode” but then hitting snooze when the alarm goes off at that time that killlsss me!
We've all been there before. I run everything on an alarm in my phone's calendar just so I could have something to switch on the ignition in my mind.
I'm struggling with this as well. I know we shouldn't be this hard on ourselves but we jusy can't help but beat ourselves up for our failures. Hoping days would get better.
I’m legit hating myself today for my motivational issues. I just cried to my husband about why can’t I ever just motivate myself to stick to something that isn’t work. I think part of it is that my meds are only working during work hours (although I’ve started just taking them on weekends too).
Yep helps with errands and just general mood. Doesn’t necessarily make me procrastinate less though. Unfortunately.
Because it is part of your ADHD. I do this as well often and find out that it is so much easier if I just get it done right away. I love to procrastinate on some things.
