I just came back from Paris with my husband and would say that's reasonable if you mix in some casual dinners with the fancy ones. Some things can definitely be pricey - for example cocktails at the Ritz are 30 euros a pop, Michelin star tasting menu and wine pairing was 400 euro total for the 2 of us. But otherwise most of our dinners were under 100, lunches under 60, and coffee / pastries under 20. Rome should also be a bit cheaper than Paris

300 a day and plenty, unless you have really expensive taste

like

Idk. Taxis to/from the airport normally cost me 100 in European cities so that leaves only $100 a person for those days. Then any other transportation each day plus any excursions. $300 a day is plenty for food alone but if you add in transportation it could be about right

Just a rec for Pierre Sang in Paris. Prob my favorite dishes i ate while there and I wish I'd done a longer tasting menu. I did the starter+entree and it was 24 euros (and a lot of food)

like

That’s okay as long as you’re not doing shopping or have really expensive taste

I spend 4-6 weeks in Madrid every year (every summer in Spain growing up). And go to France to visit my family at least twice a year.

Heading to Paris at the end of the month. Will be in London for most of August.

So yes…?

like

Yeah, $3000 for 10 days is plenty for those locations! Unless you really hit up some Michelin 3 star restaurants, then it won't be hard to spend them.

Ha… La Pergola reservation day 3 actually

like

$300 a day is right on target, not sure about fancy but it will get you decent food. If you sit down for lunch in Paris at a restaurant, as opposed to grabbing a croissant or sandwich, lunch per person is easily 30 euros (meal+ water) and if you have a drink, it’s $40-50 so 2 people lunch $100 euro adds up fast. I had a croissant and 2 iced coffees at Cafe Trocadero and paid 20 euros. If you want fancy dinner let’s say at the giraffe, it will be easy 300 total. I assume you won’t do fancy dinners daily. This budget is doable.

I’m 40 next year and want to break the cycle, where the hell do I start? For reference, I want to travel and enjoy life but also want to have a solid savings. Probably my biggest issue is that I give zero f%*>s about money, it gives me very little value.

I went to a physical exam, the doctor suggested a bunch of tests. I said I only want to do preventative ones. He said one diagnostic test is about $300, so I agreed to take it. Because of this one diagnostic test, everything is billed as diagnostic. I got 2k medical bills for the visit, preventative tests and the aforementioned test. Is there anything I can do? I talked to insurance and doctor but they wont budge.
