Wife and I planing a 1-week trip in late August trip to EU. Three options:
1) Croatia + Montenegro (fly to Split, go down to Dubrovnik and then Montenegro)
2) Swiss / Italy border - nice sleepy towns and some cold weather / lesser crowd?
Originally liked the idea of option 1, but wondering if the yacht crowd is going to be too oppressive - thoughts? Would crowds be better in option 2? Other ideas? We like to do a combination of outdoorsy / nature stuff and great food.

Did Croatia in July a few years back. The most oppressive crowd was in Dubrovnik when a cruise ship came one day

like

I will add though, after the ship left we had the city to ourselves it felt like.

2. Italy is beautiful

like

2 is the vacay wife and I have been talking about doing for years, but haven't yet.

There are some phenomenal towns up there

What do you mean by oppressive?

Millions of people bumping into each other

You can do 1-2 in a week actually…I had an incredible trip to Serbia 🇷🇸, started in Belgrade then drove to Montenegro. Made our way to Dubrovnik, Split, Hvar. Incredible seafood, Calamari is the name of the game! Good luck 🍀

We spent about a day or so in each place. You could skip Montenegro and save time, ended up spending a night in split because we missed the Ferry to Hvar. It was an adventure and one of the best trips of my life, wasn’t thinking about time.

Sorry, misread. Only #1

#2 will be less people for sure, but might still feel busy here and there since everything is smaller. Late August is high season with most countries having schools off for the summer, etc, so it’ll be busy for sure. But beautiful. First off all, I suggest you’ve a look regarding Covid restrictions. I think Switzerland still has some restrictions in place and so does Italy - but depends if you drive or fly in and from where you’re going to arrive. Might change in late Aug, of course, but if Switzerland at the moment wouldn’t allow for you to just enter, I’d probably skip it.

Did my honeymoon in northern Italy. Incredible. Como is only 30 minutes or so from the Swiss border. So we’d pop in for a day trip. Mad expensive. Loved Como and the neighbouring towns. Florence and Emilia Romagna region isn’t that far. And that’s the foodie spot. Parma has the most amazing food.

Go for option 2… Croatia & any European island will be jammed packed this summer as peeps haven’t vacay-ed in 18 months 🙈

Option 2 - Lugano en suisse et lake como en Italie

2nd child coming H1-22. 1st will be few months away from 4yrs by then. Is xc60 big enough for 2 car seats and 3 adults? Person in middle seat will be slim frame. Presume BMW X1 / Audi Q3 will be even smaller and not in contention? Xc60 is around £28k for 2017 version (~30-40k miles) and X1 / Q3 around £22k for 2018/19 versions (~30k miles). Any other car to consider? Wife adamant no MPV. XC90 would be ~£32k for 70-80k mile 2016 version.

Does anyone know of any companies really winning with low attrition rates right now? I'd love to understand more of their culture, offerings and org structure. Every article says the same things that we've been hearing for the last year. I'm looking for a little more substance and companies that have solved for this (besides throwing crazy offers out to employees and candidates) thanks in advance!

Hot take, for those who received a stimulus based on FY19 or FY18 returns why doesn’t the government make people pay it back in the FY20 return if they don’t qualify based on the actual tax year stimulus was for? I understand why they couldn’t wait but IrS knows who received it so it isn’t hard to implement. Could have used the anticipated saving coming back to fund more stimulus for those who truly needed it.

So I have completely lost interest in my area of practice mainly because I haven’t been exposed to many matters (our team is really slow) and I am the most junior in the team. So billable work is never constant. I feel like this has impacted my interest and stagnated my growth. I am thinking of moving into a different area of practice that I’m interested in. Has anyone ever done this? I’m actually depressed and I really hate being given work now. I have ADHD. Please advise

Or should I just suck it up and do it anyways?
