Did Croatia in July a few years back. The most oppressive crowd was in Dubrovnik when a cruise ship came one day
I will add though, after the ship left we had the city to ourselves it felt like.
2. Italy is beautiful
Rising Star
2 is the vacay wife and I have been talking about doing for years, but haven't yet.
There are some phenomenal towns up there
Rising Star
What do you mean by oppressive?
Millions of people bumping into each other
You can do 1-2 in a week actually…I had an incredible trip to Serbia 🇷🇸, started in Belgrade then drove to Montenegro. Made our way to Dubrovnik, Split, Hvar. Incredible seafood, Calamari is the name of the game! Good luck 🍀
We spent about a day or so in each place. You could skip Montenegro and save time, ended up spending a night in split because we missed the Ferry to Hvar. It was an adventure and one of the best trips of my life, wasn’t thinking about time.
Sorry, misread. Only #1
Rising Star
#2 will be less people for sure, but might still feel busy here and there since everything is smaller. Late August is high season with most countries having schools off for the summer, etc, so it’ll be busy for sure. But beautiful. First off all, I suggest you’ve a look regarding Covid restrictions. I think Switzerland still has some restrictions in place and so does Italy - but depends if you drive or fly in and from where you’re going to arrive. Might change in late Aug, of course, but if Switzerland at the moment wouldn’t allow for you to just enter, I’d probably skip it.
Did my honeymoon in northern Italy. Incredible. Como is only 30 minutes or so from the Swiss border. So we’d pop in for a day trip. Mad expensive. Loved Como and the neighbouring towns. Florence and Emilia Romagna region isn’t that far. And that’s the foodie spot. Parma has the most amazing food.
Go for option 2… Croatia & any European island will be jammed packed this summer as peeps haven’t vacay-ed in 18 months 🙈
Option 2 - Lugano en suisse et lake como en Italie
