Honestly. Work is work. The delusional posts amaze me.
A strategy& partner has the same WLB as a partner from MBB. So don’t think WLB is the reason
If MBB partners are going to other firms, they’re more reliable than your wild conjectures lmao. Partners in my S& practice only have to travel like 1 week a month, make bank because the rest of PwC spoon feeds them business, and are basically impossible to fire without cause
Desire to have a life outside of work
Lol S&1, what did he say i think it got removed
Probably weren’t going to make partner at MBB
Partners have up or out too before Senior Partner
1. Pension
2. Bigger org to partner with and sell
3. Personal reasons
Easier.
Some S& practices (e.g., Deals Strategy) are relatively new and need revenue generators to grow. Have seen people at the director level + come from all of MBB, smaller firms, and industry
Rising Star
Partners usually leave because they’re tired of dealing with a few of their partners.
It’s the same regardless of perceived Fishbowl Tier.
Pro
A mix of being managed out + promised leadership positions they couldn’t get at BCG
3 reasons, all comp related:
1) the comp model is different and B4 firms offer more stable comp (still based on revenue generated, but modulated) whereas MBB is much more directly linked to that year's performance - if you've had a couple really strong years but for some reason expect a slowdown, your comp will fall more dramatically at MBB
2) if young enough to vest, then the pension is pretty attractive
3) much larger firm network to cross-sell and generate new business
Counseled out
There are a few partners I know who were at T2 or MBB before B4. They are highly skilled, good people leaders, humble - they can come in as a partner and do good work while also having work life balance too.

Mismatch of values
Tired of certain colleagues
WLB
No path to Sr Partner
Was at S& before and believe the WLB is actually worse than BCG for below partner. Leverage model at B4 tends to be better so I wonder whether partner(only) WLB is actually better.
Agree. We do the same work but often win on price. This means our junior teams often get crushed.
Within partnerships there are leadership positions. So sometimes re-orgs happen and they get shuffled around. They want to manage a bigger territory, wider exposure in the practice. Work life balance could also be another thing. Or they offer a big bump because they have the MBB brand
Main reason I've seen is promo/position, like going from being just another partner to head of an industry/functional offering. Often comes with $$$.
