As a male mid-level/senior associate, can you take the full parental leave (10-14 weeks) and come out without impact on partnership prospects? What are questions I should be asking to get at this issue before accepting a lateral offer? Quiz recent junior partners with kids? Seems a bit aggressive but may be necessary.
Do you still send a gift if your kid is invited to a birthday party but can't attend? It's a neighborhood kid but not anyone we're particularly close with
How much do people pay for a nanny starting at 6 months? We are going to pay $15 an hour for 7-8 hours a day for at least 3 days a week. Is this low or to much? I get frustrated reading reviews about how much people pay there nanny’s (which is less) bc I am now using the money I put away for savings for child care.
Thoughts on weaning - my sweet baby is now 13.5 months and was down to nursing twice a day after she turned one. The last ~2 weeks she’s either been too distracted or too tired to nurse in the evening
Any couples who’ve built your empire from scratch? My SO and me have a total earning of about $180K and we’re 28. If we’ve got to begin with a house, a car, then baby planning.. do you think it’s achievable with this income? I know there are a lot of “it depends” factors - but, I’d love to hear your story and see how you’ll built wealth together..
Deloitte is giving 16 weeks of paid leave to employee (male and female) for birth of a child, immediate family care, and care if aging parents. Pretty nice benefit.
Took a sabbatical to do fertility treatments. Got pregnant on my first cycle of treatment yay! Now wondering if I'm eligible for maternity leave since Ive been on sabbatical the first 3 Mos of year?
Serious question. What baby items are most expensive? (other than diapers, formula, college education, nanny.. Etc)
Best trip y’all took with your 8 week old newborn. Looking for our first getaway before the end of the year.
Planning to move to Deloitte in next couple of months. Can any of you please help me with the parental leave policy? How much is it and can you take it within 6 months or so of joining ?
Parent 🐠, are your kids’ schools providing any relief on tuition? Ours said they will not be providing any so wanted to get a sense on what others are hearing.
Friends 5yo when I walk in front door: “Jessie, do you have a baby yet? Momma says you want a family. Did you do it? Where’s your baby?” Thanks, kid.
Currently a few weeks left on parental leave and have had a potential opportunity come up with a smaller firm that I think makes more sense for my career goals. The question I have is: assuming I get an offer and the details work out, how do I navigate leaving? Should I provide notice right away? Go back to my current firm for a couple weeks and then give notice? I certainly don’t want to burn bridges. How would you feel on the other side?
Any women suffer from extreme hair loss? I’m indian, and have had hair fall since I was a kid. Now it’s pretty bad though, my scalp has started showing and it sucks :( Any stories from others?
Microsoft 🐟 I’m joining soon and curious to know about the parental leave policy. Are you able to take leave within a year of your start date/is there a waiting period before becoming eligible for the leave? Thanks in advance!
Thinking of going to Alaska in July for a week. 1. Is it worth going if on a tight budget? It seems that many of the excursions there are $500+. I'm definitely not looking to spend that much, more in the $50-75 range for an excursion. 2. My wife will be 6 months pregnant. Is there a lot to do considering that (obviously we won't be able to do long hikes etc).
Does anyone have recommendations for boutique consulting firms for small family businesses? My mother started her own business 20 years ago and is primed to grow but is reaching the point where she needs external help with setting strategies and goals
I found out today that my employer doesn’t offer any paid parental leave (maternity or paternity). This isn’t a major issue now, but my wife and I are planning on trying in a year or so from now. How many other employers don’t offer any paid leave at all? Coming from public accounting this seemed outrageous to me, but curious to see what other companies are like.
Interviewing tomorrow at another Big4 firm for a 100% travel position that has "McLean" as the location. Would they ever be okay with me not living in that area? If so, when to bring that question up?
When does the CBS MBA program start?
I FUCKING LOVE CLIENT SERVICE
Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.
Looking for roles internally at the current company, and the role identified is an individual contributor role. I exited consulting at a Director /SM level, and due to the layoff took a not so good role 2 years ago. The hiring manager for this role asked "why do you want to be a people manager". Frankly, I was a little shocked at this even being a question. How would you react in this situation it you were me? Would you entertain/respond to this question at all? The communication is in writing.
Has anyone come across this thing from the client playbook that insists on never using negative words like "don't" or "never" or "can't" in headlines or taglines? So something like "You're not yourself when you're hungry" would be dismissed outright. Who's teaching them this narrow-mindedness?
Has anyone heard of / worked or interviewed at the company “Benchling”? Would love to hear about your experience.

Ladies, I have a dilemma. I know the choice is ultimately mine, but I wanted some input. I met my current boyfriend through my cousin and he lives in Chicago. The plan was for me to move to Chicago in the next couple of months. I planned on just continuing my job with PwC. However, I was applying for jobs in NYC and just received and offer for a company I’ve always wanted to work for. I feel like I’m going to have to make a choice between my job and my relationship. What would you do?
If you are on the bench and hand in your 2 week notice will you let go immediately and still receive 2 weeks pay?
Hi! I am on L1 visa and applied for i-131/765/485 early in the year as a dependent. Can I stay in the U.S. lawfully if I quit my job and lose L1 status before the approval of EAD/GC given I have a pending change of status application? I will soon talk to an immigration lawyer, just wondering if anyone has heard a similar case before.
I haven’t even finished the final round with the company and they are asking my passport for visa purpose already…why do rush? (Not in the states) Also I am in the process with mbb.
Do you add people on Linkedin immediately after you have connected with someone in the firm (via zoom meetings ofcourse) to give intros etc.... Does it look unprofessional? I meant you working for that firm and you are connecting with people internally to get a project etc.
Does anyone have suggestions on the best resources for learning project finance modeling?
What type of project management tools do you use to make project timelines ( I have a Mac)
