Having an MSN may open more doorways to positions that pay more (e.g., administration, education, etc.) but the MSN in itself won’t necessary give you more pay, unless that’s built into your organization’s pay structure. I will say since getting my MSN, I have increased my annual pay by $40k and allows me to make $15k extra a year through my side hustle (teaching @ a nursing program).
Not necessarily. You would be better off thinking about what your dream job is and what are the things you love doing. Salary is necessary but it is not the end. We all need money to survive, but higher degrees are to open up the possibility to what you love doing. I would take a lower paying job, with less education, doing what I love, over a high paying job I hate going to, every time. And as an employer I would hire the person who loves what they do over everyone else.
