Hello. I am having difficulty getting a manager role at my company. I have an MBA, a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, 6 years manufacturing experience in nutraceuticals. They say I’m not ready, but the managers above me do not have degrees or certifications. What should I do? How do I get what I’m looking for?

Will a cover letter significantly help my application while applying to MBB? Or significantly hurt if I don’t attach one? There’s nothing unusual about my resume to explain (i.e. employment gaps, reapplication, etc) so my CL would primarily be explaining why I want to work for the firm.

My husband has been unemployed since last year. He has a part time gig holding him over until he finds something better, but he is struggling. Overall he has 10 YOE in hospitality (server, bartender, events, and restaurant manager) and 2 YOE in sales.

He’s open to school, but that will only delay us further. Open to getting a cert.

Where do we go from here? What are some fields he could enter in with this experience? Or something with OTJ training?

MBB em level role vs. director level tech (non FAANG) exit? Coming from b4, roughly 10 yoe. I know it’s probably a personal preference thing but hoping to get opinions here. Tech role is $190k base plus a 30% target bonus. MBB role i got a verbal offer without a comp figure yet but my understanding is it’s around there, maybe 10-20% higher (or maybe much higher depending on bonus).

Didn’t fully expect to get the MBB offer honestly, but both beat my 180/198 b4 comp. Now i’m torn.

I keep seeing advanced technical (data science) skills required for many industry positions, even if the role is strategic. The traditional strategy/biz ops roles seem to become more and more selective, are typical exit paths from mbb consulting becoming more of a “red sea” situation?
