We are hiring
So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

Anyone else issued their Deloitte phone at time of termination have issues upgrading phones later? AT&T is saying they can’t unlock my phone because it’s leased by Deloitte and still has a balance owed on the device? I’m laughing but also what? I haven’t worked there in a year. Also the wait time at 1800 Deloitte is like 3 hours.

Yes. And somehow we’ll convince our kids to shell their life savings for a college degree so they too can also live the “prestigious career” we were promised.
I’m convinced that even if someone got the most interesting or “best” job they could, they would still have plenty of boring or otherwise unappealing stuff associated with it that they’d have to deal with. My thought is that unless someone is incredibly passionate and derives a lot of meaning in their work, they should pursue the job that lets them live their best life possible. That’s why $$, PTO, WLB, and other benefits, are so important (to me at least).
Thanks for the well thought-out answer here, I think I largely agree

Yes. Imagine Sisyphus happy.
People who have looked into this found those with the greatest job satisfaction are those who have control and authority to do a role as they see fit. Nothing really with being passionate about industry or company.
If anyone has seen something about job satisfacation relative to company growth would be super interesting. Are there companies that got large and got it right?
I have the same feeling but I don’t want to believe in this. You could find some interesting work to do if you try really hard, that’s my goal in the next 10 years. Just need to convince myself to be patient.
10 years?
I evaluate if I like what I'm doing every year. If I don't I find something new.
