Will there be any formal communication about the layoffs happening currently/in the future?

Hi. We are not going through a layoff (i.e., downsizing or termination for a set group of employees that perform jobs no longer relevant to the business). As part of our normal performance process, every year we identify the low performers who are given a rating of Improve Performance. You can get improve performance - transition or improve performance - PIP. Those marked transition are then terminated as part of the performance cycle. The last two years we suspended this due to COVID. We are now back to “business as normal” and there is nothing to announce. Those let go will have documented reasons as to how they are not meeting expectations as compared to peers which will be discussed at an individual basis with the person impacted.

That said, if you feel comfortable, talk with your people lead and/or talent lead on any questions related to the process. It is not meant to be a mystery, but to be respectful for those impacted. Most people don’t want an “announcement” that they were let go.

I was let go. It was a surprise announcement. There wasn’t any performance issues or PIP. I was pulled out of a project where I had a HR issue with the lead, placed on bench for a week and then let go. Reason cited was performance not up-to the mark compared to the rest of the group. Luckily, I already had two verbal offers in hand, for roles higher than the one I was currently on and 40-50% higher pay. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️.One could easily see through the politics behind the scenes. Just want to say that not everything is fair and square with the performance process at Accenture. Look out for yourselves!!

They’re being very hush hush for the entire process, in typical Accenture fashion, so I highly doubt it.

No company is ever open about any sort of reduction in force. The current cuts were performance based. We just forgot this is business as usual as it did not happen at all last year.

I’m finding that a weird side effect of losing my job in this climate is ad agencies taking advantage of my weakened position. They get in touch, proactively or in response to my reaching out, and they want to hire me as they are in good shape. When I reveal I was laid off, the offer changes to freelance or maybe nothing. I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 12. My family did not opt to put me on medication. I illegally discovered Adderall in college. Worked incredible. Got diagnosed after college & after having been fired from my first job. Passed the CPA exams on Adderall. Went off of it again. I do everything well at my job except for attention to detail within my excel files & emails. Will taking ADHD medication really fix this? Does anyone else have this issue and was it resolved by taking medication?

Have I just had bad luck with the companies I've been at or is it like this everywhere? I've had 7 managers in my 4 years of experience, 3 in one year at my first position (which is why I left) and now 4 at the 2nd company in 3 years. There has been a mix of people leaving and people getting fired but the instability feels extreme.

What do you guys think about firms who use remote/online IT tech companies for their it needs versus having IT staff inhouse. I once worked for a small CPA which laid off it's small IT staff in favor of an outsourced remote/online IT solution. That tax season, the network crashed several times and it was awful. After tax season, the firm rehired the same group of people it had fired and halted it's remote IT help.

Pretty sure I’m getting laid off tomorrow morning. Our company was acquired and now I’ve got a meeting at 8am with head of HR & our VP to “discuss next steps” for my position. I wish they’d just put it in an email and save me the next 24 hrs of stressing but here we are.. any advice on questions, etc I should prepare before tomorrows meeting? Talk about worst time of year to lose your job 😭 I’m also expecting so it’s adding to my stress. Ugh.

Advice needed:

I am working on a 3y local contract in the US since 2.5y - long-story, but wife never made it over and now wants me to come home.
