My team is very close, so I told my peers and above about my journey. I was so glad that I did because they were so supportive. It made taking time off when I wasn’t feeling well or had appointments even easier.
Absolutely not, being an extremely private person whose parents don’t even know I went through IVF—-I said “I am currently going through medical treatment that I would prefer not to discuss.I will have a couple of day absences due to surgeries or post op procedures but will plan to ensure they do not negatively impact my ability to deliver. If there are any changes I will let you know but please don’t hesitate to let me know your concerns.”
I have not disclosed anything during my first IVF round, but will most likely disclose it to my manager only during my upcoming second round. The first round was very exhausting (effect of hormones, etc.) and now the second time I want to fully focus on optimizing my outcome and don’t want to be faced with stressful work situations.
I’ve shared with my Engagement partner and primary client lead I work with. Not specifics on the procedure but more generally that I’m going through fertility treatments and will be away for appts and take a few days off here and there. I’ve worked with both for a little over a year now and both have been super supportive and accommodating, no questions asked. I’ve also shared with my counselor. I feel more relaxed and it allows me to focus on the procedure and I trust that between my counselor and EP, I’m covered. I haven’t shared with my practice leaders although I’ve known them for over 6 years; I just don’t feel they’d be as supportive.

I just told them I was having a procedure and took the day off. Depends on your comfort level, but I'm generally pretty private.

I didn’t disclose the first round but I have since disclosed to close colleagues and Partners because I’ve needed more time off due to several miscarriages and surgeries. I find it easier now that they know the private holds on my calendar are likely medical appointments and I feel more comfortable taking a couple days off after an FET.
No - for me was a private procedure. I took a sick day on the day of retrieval and another one on day of transfer, that was it.
I told my team and was very open about it with anyone who asked during my first round. I was excited and they were so supportive, but I wish I hadn’t. After my first and second rounds were unsuccessful it’s a little awkward when there’s a pregnancy announcement or they ask how my journey is going. If I could start over I’d probably only tell my lead and even then, I’d just leave it at “fertility treatments.”
I went through 2 rounds of egg freezing last year, and did inform my manager. I did so because of all the doctors appointments that I had to attend plus the actual retrieval procedure. He was very supportive of my decision, and allowed me the necessary space I needed.
Just say you have a medical procedure and a follow up visit etc. no need for details
