Will you take the COVID vaccine now or in the following few months if you have the opportunity to have it?

Yes 100%. This vaccine was developed so quickly because there is already a SARS vaccine, which is also a coronavirus. That vaccine is perfectly safe. If you just learned what rna is I don’t really want to hear your alarmist opinion.

Lolol and this is why I’m a CPA

I’m last in line, but I’ll get it as soon as it’s available to me. This vaccine went through the same testing process as every other vaccine we have and was only able to be brought to market this quickly because 1. We already have vaccines for other coronaviruses, 2. There was a large pool of volunteers for trials, and 3. The red tape that usually slows things down was removed. It’s going to be safe for the vast majority of the population.

In a few months. Not sure I'll be eligible for it until then anyway but I'm fully WFH, it's cold outside, and I don't have much risk of being exposed to it between now and then. I'm not worried about it and would take it today if there was an abundant supply but there isn't and it wouldn't really change my approach to the next 4 months anyway.

I agree with this. It’s much more important that essential workers get it than me, since I only leave my house to go grocery shopping every few weeks.

Yup, although sounds like my age group won’t be eligible until early summer so still a bit of a wait lol

like

I'm going to take it. I hate wearing mask, commute on the subway, work in an open office space without a mask etc.

like

Exactly attorney 1! The 1 year of my life is a higher percent wasted than the survival rate. Sheep!

Yes, unless there is a specific reason not to e.g. allergic to an ingredient, other health, I'm pregnant, I'm a child. Genuine question... What other reasons do people have not to?

like

Yep. I’ve had every other vaccine available to me so I’m going to take this one too

like

Yes! I miss my family. My parents should be getting it relatively soon (elderly with additional risk factors), but it looks like I will be among the last to receive.

like

My parents already took it. They are health workers. My dad is a doc knows a lot about vaccines. Not worried at all. Hoping they come visit soon. It’s been almost a year since I’ve last seen them.

like

Damn, no. Haha

Yes! I'm going to take the vaccine as soon as it is available to me! I will also continue to wear my mask even after taking it. No sarcasm here.

likefunny

There's still a possibility that a vaccinated person could transmit the virus and they might not even know about it. Don't know for how long I'll wear it, but it doesn't hurt me, it's not uncomfortable, and my feelings don't get hurt if people make fun of me for it.

Well by rushed, you mean the same testing as all other drugs but just this one was put to the front of line (vs a like a new advil) and that both animal and human testing could run concurrently. It went through the same process as anything else, rush just meant prioritized. I don't think anything was actually cut out. What's wrong with mrna? Isn't that better than a low/inactive dose of the actual virus? I will research myself, but anything you have will help. Can you share what has happened to the people that have taken it? Links?

like

Yes! I miss my family so much. I'll get the vaccine to travel and feel safe.

like

No. I want to have kids in the next few years and there obviously hasn’t been enough time to determine how it could affect pregnancy and child development.

likefunny

KPMG 2 - Accutane affects child development even if you’re not pregnant. Who is to say this drug isn’t the same?

Yes, 100%. My mom has cancer and I’d like to be able to visit her without the risk of killing her.

like

I literally cannot wait (literally being figuratively but it feel like literally lmao). I’m SO EXCITED to start going on vacation again, being able to see my parents, hang out with friends, all that good stuff ❤️

Eventually yes but after more people have got it and the side effects if any are known. This is only because I got covid in July and have been dealing with long covid symptoms for 5.5 months now and it’s been hell, I don’t know if my immune system would react badly again to the small amount in the vaccine.

I am so grateful to have a job right now but I am really struggling. I’ve been at D for a little under a year and have been really unhappy with my experience. In particular, my current project and my direct supervisor make me feel unbelievably incompetent and under appreciated. Given COVID, there is little flexibility to roll off. I’ve tried to stick it through but I’m at a breaking point. Any suggestions on how to make the best of it? Or next steps?

Do people realize that it is risky for an employer to have you on payroll if you aren’t vaccinated? If you get sick, they have to grant you leave and all that. So beyond the other staff, it’s risky to have someone employed and risk they end up with Covid because they will be short on labor. So it’s not unreasonable for an employer to require a vaccine to protect headcount.

Met with my boss today and was told “well you’re way better at your job than we expected...so keep doing that and just that. We might be able to have some more interesting work for you to do in 2-3 years”. Meanwhile...I am BORED TO TEARS!!!!!! And it’s tempting to quit, but I make more money than both of my parents combined EVER have, we had zero layoffs during COVID, and I really do love the people. At the end of the day...I guess I’m just hear to vent and to see if I’m the ONLY one.

Hi fishes, I'm currently at Google and considering an offer from Citadel for a lot more TC. However, I like my WLB at Google. My manager is very hands off and I can frequently enjoy a long weekend or afternoon without clocking vacation time. Do you know how it is at Citadel? My current TC is $250k and the Citadel offer is for $400k.

I’m trying to stay positive but I am just so burnt out right now. I thought working at an agency in planning was going to be a dream role closer to strategy, but I’m less and less motivated every day because of the hours and the lack of opportunity outside of in the weeds, niche tasks. I worry about how my output will be if I don’t find a role I enjoy more with more of a WLB. Has anyone else fallen out of love with media planning, and if so where did you go?
