It’ll be my 25th year in education. Hopefully, five to seven more. May all our boats return to a safe harbor at the end of 2022.

Thank you- thoughtful!
Best to you and all colleagues herein, as well!
Starting my 10th year. I have to remind myself not to think about school planning untilAugust. Now I can do so guilt-free! I love my job!
I am starting year 41. Four years to go (started at 21).
Best wishes for everyone! This will be, at least, an interesting year. I agree so much with California Middle School 1 (btw, I started in CA): so much in education has changed … and it never seems to get easier. The pendulum swings in multiple dimensions.

Year 18. Year 12 at my current site. Good luck to everyone!
And thank you for letting me know that I’m not the only one with jitters about starting back up again! 😬
This will be my 30th year. So much has changed…the curriculum, the basic family structure, the push to politically indoctrinate instead of teaching independent critical thinking… One thing that has not changed is that the people who make the majority of decisions are the people who have not been in a classroom teaching for 10 to 20 years. Thankfully students are you still wanting to learn and there’s still a lot of happiness that I get out of teaching. Have a great year everyone!
I wish I could take you to lunch and ask questions!!!
We just finished summer school last week. My break is just starting. I'll come back and read this post on Sept. 1.😊

WHS 1 congrats for staying in this profession for that amount of time. I started at 22, and just keep going. You cannot retire until 45 years of teaching or age 65? I can retiree from the profession at 35 years but I’ll only be 57 … but depending where I am financially, ( my son will be in college) I may stay longer, but I think I’ll do something else. I admire your dedication. 👏👏😀
That’s one thing I really don’t like about teaching. Our retirement is very aged discriminatory. Someone can work less than years than I but we save more and retirement if that person happens to be older when he or she retires. Also even though I worked enough before teaching to earn Social Security, I’m more or less disqualified from it or from survivors benefits because I’m a teacher. Where is the equity in that?
