With 16 weeks parental leave at EY, 1yr no travel after after maternity for ACN, and all the distractions of workers with children, firms should show some love to the yeoman single or childless people

They show plenty of love to the conks and losers who aren't even. My time to qualify for these things is behind me but they are long overdue.

We should get sabbaticals!

*DINKs not conks

The whole point is to make it easier for people who have to balance a work and family. If your childless you don't have that balance it act and have it easier.

D2- respectfully disagree. How is a single person caring for aging parents easier?

What about people with kids doing that as well?

Deloitte did try to address that with the inclusion of caring for a sick family member

One of my friend was asked to resign because she got pregnant . They specifically told her that they have strict policies and need complete commitment and you are not fit for the current role owing to your health. They have a king rule from management side and treat their employees as daily wage labor . Very bad HR and management

I just got diagnosed with ADHD at 30. After years of being the weird one, problem child and dealing with my own mental and sensory overload issues I’m so relieved to have a diagnose I could cry. I am now getting recommendations to avoid medication and try therapy. Can anyone speak to that approach? I kind of feel like I’m getting that recommendation because people don’t believe ADHD is a real issue.

I want to brag on my kid, but I don’t want to embarrass him, so I’m doing it here. My college sophomore found out today that he ended up with a B in his accounting class - which is remarkable, given that he received a 50 on his first exam and a 70 on his second. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen him work this hard - and I couldn’t be more proud. The grades that come easily don’t impress me nearly as much as the ones that are hard fought.

I (36F) am married to another woman (34F) and we have a baby (5moF). We split all childcare, cleaning, meal prep, errands etc fairly evenly and it works well. Maybe she cooks more than I do bc she likes it, and I clean more bc I need to have a clean house. My friend (35F) recently took a business trip and literally put a binder together with instructions for her husband re: daycare drop off and pick up, what to feed the kids, when to take out the trash and so on. Getting in my 8th month and starting to feel sore in my groin area. I read it’s because the baby is adding pressure down there. Do you know if it’s bad to do inner thigh exercises? I do easy floor exercises to stay fit/healthy during Covid, but the soreness (feels like slight muscle pain but it’s not) is making me wonder if I should stop.

I am a field marketer. I travel and cover 12 states. HQ is across the US on the east coast. My manager put a surprise calendar invite twice now to go to home office without consulting dates to see if we were available. I stood up and asked to be included on available dates and said I will attend virtually but asking me to be away for 4 additional full days away from my family without asking me is not OK. I already travel a lot and this boundary is super important to me. Am I right or wrong?

A different kind of working mom post:

Many of you have young kids... are there any moms of teens here?

I am at a point where my teen's newfound "independence" is starting to impact my focus and time at work - his running off to hang with friends without permission, etc is becoming a distraction during the workday, and the impact has definitely been noticed by my superiors at work.

The issues with the kid are being handled appropriately - this is more about how to overcome perception at work

My school has seen combinations of f2f, hybrid, and remote teaching/learning throughout the first half of the school year. After the MLK holiday, our district is returning to traditional f2f teaching 100%. I have 4 band classes (1 beginning, 2 intermediate, & 1 advanced), and as far as content pacing is concerned, we’re 1 9-week grading period behind. Is it a far fetched goal to get my students where they need to be by the end of the school year? How would you handle a situation like this?

Any tips? Dealing with resourcing issues for one of our largest clients. We have enough hours, just waiting for more experienced team members to be hired to complete it. We’ve reprioritized work so many times to get what we can done with the team we have, but still have important items waiting to be completed with more Sr. Folks. We’ve also borrowed from other teams, but it doesn’t cover up the fact we could be getting the work done faster with the right team. Advice for dealing with the client?
