With all the talks about GME, AMC, NOK, a smart investor gets out before the music stops. If Chamath was on our side he would have exercised his options and held the stock and not sold the next day. He is not one of us, he is just anti-WallStreet. Do not put money you cannot afford to lose and no margins.

Any investors in the NYC area?

I am retiring from real estate! It's been 40 long years of working in this field and I'm so grateful for everything I've learned. To the young and rising realtors out there: It's definitely worth it, don't give up and eventually things will get better. If you have any questions feel free to ask them!

I recently changed jobs and my new 401K provider - Principal has very limited MF investment options. My prior employer’s 401K was managed by Fidelity and provided me access to a range of MF options. I believe that the fund options are negotiated by the employer and provider? Two questions. First - I have not rolled over my previous 401K to the new one. Would there be any problems. Second - is there a way I could move my current 401K to another (precious) provider?

I am an associate at an AM200 firm and was (IMO) very clear prior to accepting this role that I value work-life balance and wanted to try to keep work at night on the weekends to a minimal, but since February, it seems like it’s always something that requires my time as needed disregarding “business hours” or my personal schedule. Thoughts on whether to bring this up or continue to be a team player until I burn out and pay off my student loans?

I’ve always avoided annuities but think this one from NY Life is interesting. It’s called a Variable Investment Fund and you can add an Investment Preservation Rider for a fee. The IPR guarantees your investment return will at least be the cash you put in.

Typical portfolio returns about 7.5% after all fees. The commission fee is 2%.

So you are attenuating some upside and paying a pretty hefty fee, but you are insuring agains the downside.

Thoughts?

How much money do you have to make to feel comfortable buying a M4, AMG C63, or a RS5, or a 911? Can you actually buy one in your 30s (manager/ senior manager level)? Or can only partners/senior directors/SVP afford to buy these nice cars in this profession ?

Anybody have an investment property? My father and I bought a small family property near my grandmother, far away from us. My Dad always teased that he can now deduct the travel when he goes to visit his mother, because he'll stop by the property and do some light maintenance.

I've been teasing back that that would be a good way to commit tax fraud. But this year I noticed that one of the deductions TurboTax explicitly prompts you to take is. . . airfare!

Is it legit to deduct this travel?

I see so much room for growth in my firm, especially related to social media, updated technology, marketing strategies, etc. Except, every time I suggest them, I'm pegged as a greedy/pushy millennial. Told by the older partners, "back in our day" or "we tried that years ago" and am quickly dismissed. I referenced other firms initiatives and was told it was clear I was not happy where I am, so I should go... Anyone else struggling with this?

This makes me nervous as we enter (or are in) a recession. Any feedback based on the pros and cons list below would be helpful.

This may be an elementary question, but my credit score just randomly dropped 20 points. I keep my utilization very low. Almost all of my financial transactions are on my credit card, and I pay everything off by each statement. One month I didn’t get a chance to pay everything off because there were some transactions made on my statement date that I was not able to pay off because they were listed as pending. This resulted in my utilization going up to 6%. My credit score did not change (cont).
