With all these layoffs and as someone who's 23 with 1 YOE, I'm really worried about the future (at PwC here). I have 9K in emergency funds and am planning to boost it even further. Anyone else strapping themselves in for the impending DEPRESSION?

I wouldn’t worry about getting laid off at pdubs, especially as an A

like

I think I heard pdubs within the first hour on my first day when I was at pdubs lol

PwC made a point to not fire people during the COVID downturn in the markets. You can make the argument that more people were let go on because of performance, but a least you can try to combat this by being above average for your level

Use your genius econ skills and figure out why it's free

Associates are the grunt people who do all the work and don’t get paid much. There’s always a shortage of senior associates. Unless there are other performance issues seniors/ associates are usually safe. The ones in most danger are non-partner track senior managers and directors.

Strapping myself in? Absolutely not lol not even worried about it

Ok thanks for your perspective

This guys trying to be mark baum from the big short so bad. Just save cash and know that PwC has basically never done layoffs without cause (i.e., poor performance)

Idk. Are people worrying about layoffs at the biggies (Deloitte, Accenture, PwC, EY, etc.?) ACN’s stock does look … bad, but so does the entire market. Curious people’s feelings

Don’t be. Layoffs happen everywhere at any time. I used to worry about it at every company when I was new to the workforce. Honestly, it’s out of your control. Be a good performer, save what you can, and know you’d get severance 😝

likehelpful

Worrying about it isn’t going to change anything. Do your job be a good performer and don’t worry. It’s not going to be better for your mental health if you are constantly worrying. Update your resume just in case.

A recession is when your neighbor loses his job, a depression is when you lose your job.

Finally found THE one, after over a year of searching and trying out at least 5 different ones!

A nice comfortable office chair.

https://ergochair.co/collections/chairs/products/ergonomics-mesh-chair-w-adjustable-headrest-and-armrest?variant=32511617597491

My criteria: mesh seat and back, arms, headrest

I tried cheap ones from Amazon. Expensive, second hand gaming chairs. Tried HM Aeron (second hand) and while I didn't like the bulk and the general design, I was sold on the mesh seating. I wanted to get the ErgoChair 2 from autonomous, but it doesn't have mesh seat.

AMA.
