The customers for consultants are tech companies. When things get even a little bit ambiguous consulting companies cut fast, usually before their industry clients. There are no guarantees or safe choices anywhere. Focus on what you value and what organization(s) align with that. Careers are long, your mindset should be on growth. A layoff prompts growth and change, which is the product that both tech and consultants really sell. Embrace it.
