With all these layoffs happening; particularly software tech companies; would you advise a job seeker to apply at big 4 consulting or take a chance with tech/software companies?

I feel like I’m about to be laid off. Any advice? I feel so depressed lol.

The severance package at Meta for laid off employees almost makes it nice to be laid off depending on what your personal situation is….. personally wouldn’t mind getting 4+ months of full pay to reset and think about what’s next 😬

Do you need a healthcare-related graduate degree to progress your career in healthcare consulting? I majored in business/finance in undergrad and have 1 YOE at a healthcare boutique but am worried that I won’t be able to lateral without more schooling. Would I have a shot of lateraling to a big 4 healthcare group or a large Tier 2 consulting firm in the next few years without getting an MHA or some other graduate degree?

MBB em level role vs. director level tech (non FAANG) exit? Coming from b4, roughly 10 yoe. I know it’s probably a personal preference thing but hoping to get opinions here. Tech role is $190k base plus a 30% target bonus. MBB role i got a verbal offer without a comp figure yet but my understanding is it’s around there, maybe 10-20% higher (or maybe much higher depending on bonus).

Didn’t fully expect to get the MBB offer honestly, but both beat my 180/198 b4 comp. Now i’m torn.

Job transition question: I recently accepted an offer for a new role with Merrill Lynch, the following day I was fired from my previous employer. I haven’t filled out the updated work history background check info yet. The reason for termination was due to performance expectations not being met. Should I reach out to my new employer and let them know that I’ve been terminated? Should I just put the termination update on the background check form and leave it at that? Wondering what I should do.

Why are we still doing coding challenges? We all know nearly every engineer/developer is using stackoverflow (copy/paste code and switch up somethings) or watching that YouTube tutorial. I applied few weeks ago to Moon Active’s QA bootcamp. Received a decline. I reapplied few weeks later while adding a personal note describing that I started taking few relevant Udemy courses. For my second application. And at the same time I messaged a link on LinkedIn and emailed a lead in HR department. But for my second time I didn’t receive any message. Was I marked by the company? Any advice for a good coder who has difficulty doing timed online coding test? I'm capable building web programs, adding JavaScript effects, fixing bugs, etc, but when I do these online tests I feel like I never have enough time to finish them.
