Hello fishes, I have 15 plus years of experience and got an offer from DXC 34 lpa plus JB. In my prior company I was an Senior Manager , got 23.5 lpa. My grade as DXC offer letter is L5. Is this a good offer? My primary focus is on work life balance as I had literally none in my previous company(cognizant).DXC TechnologyCognizant

I didn’t have a passion for my previous jobs and the next will likely be along the same lines. Feels like I’m not doing anything meaningful by just building decks and living in excel. My previous jobs were mentally stimulating and had good compensation, but weren’t personally fulfilling. Is it worth it to maybe start over from scratch? Try to become a nurse, go get a post bacc to go to med school, become a teacher?
Environmental Science. I’ve become fed up with everything I’ve seen in the news, and now I want to try my hand at conserving the precious resources we still have.
No it's not dumb. Think first about yourself. There will be no second try, no second Life.
Unless you're a Buddhist, then there are innumerable more lives...
I would suggest trying to build up the other areas in your life, hobbies, friendships, family, personal health, etc. Sounds like work was taking up a disproportionate amount of your life. You may find meaning in a new career path but there are probably a lot of people in those careers that feel how you feel now. It might be worth trying that out before jumping all in on a totally new career.
Ah, well I think with those additional facts it might be time to switch careers. I say go for it then!

Do it before it’s too late! I don’t agree that your hobbies will fill that void. It’s not enough.

What about just “feeling useful” to others, is that bad advice ?
I agree to build up the other parts of your life. But also don’t ignore the impact of this pandemic and the perspective it has given all of us. Explore your interests in these areas. Take an online class in biology or related subject to see if you are really interested in shifting your career this way. You have the time now so don’t only wonder or think about it - literally do something in that field.
If this is a chance for you to achieve what you want then go for it! I’ve met so many people who chose the short term for $/perks only to live with regret later on. For a lot of people, they just don’t know what they want resulting in a maintain the status quo life. Whereas it seems you know what you want, screw status quo?
Finding meaning in the work we do is important, but paying the bills is a lot more important. Once you get older and have a family, the pressures of adequate compensation outweigh many things in life. Please keep that in mind, as sometimes our jobs are just a means to pay the bills. Finding some satisfaction in those jobs makes life so much easier.
What do you think would bring you more fulfillment? Could you possibly use your experience in another field of work that aligns more with your interests instead of starting over completely?
I’ve been feeling the same way and joined a volunteer organization which has helped. I still feel bored and unmotivated with my job but I like the money so I’m trying to balance both for now. I’m hoping when I’m older and closer to retiring I won’t have to care as much about money and can maybe do something I have more passion for full time
