Hey all, I’ve recently joined EY consulting from another Big 4 and have noticed there’s no discipline (at least in my team) around codes and charging time. People either charge a standard 7 hrs or some will charge time spent on internal activities to their client code. I was told that “the last person to charge their actual hours worked was promptly booted off the project”. Just wondering: 1) Is this a general cultural point accross all Consulting teams? Will challengin this get me in trouble?
What does the recruitment process look like for PhD candidates for the Big 4 and tier 2 firms? I know MBB recruits PhDs, but am unclear about the rest.

Currently a M7 PhD student. Former Big 4 consultant and veteran. Want to go back into consulting (preferably strategy). I have an Ivy Master’s. Would a MBA be silly if this is my goal?
Thoughts on Masters in Environmental Management programs? UCSB, Yale, etc. I have a non-technical degree (Bachelor of Arts) and have been in management consulting at a Big 4 the last 5 years. I want to pivot my career to do something more meaningful - make a positive impact in the world, rather than continuing to help rich corporations get richer. Thinking that doing a Masters will help arm myself with environmental / sustainability knowledge and a network.
Hi Imad! I recently started at B4, realizing after compliance busy season I’m more interested in audit. Internally transfer doesn’t seem guaranteed and will take at least 6+ months. (Cont.)
Looking at exit opportunities and job description says Big 4 experience in addition to helping prepare FS and helping prepare tax forms. I mean in Big 4 you're either in audit or tax.

Let's talk burnout! Is anybody else already feeling it? I am feeling like the summer flew by in a second without providing any sort of stress relief or reprieve from last year.
I have done my taxes on TurboTax for the last 10 years, but like many, I moved around a lot last year, so I’m afraid that might complicate my returns. Aside from the moves (left NYC in June, stayed w family in NJ until Oct, then signed a rental lease in Philly), my return is pretty straightforward. Same employer throughout, no dependents, no big secondary income, etc. Should I stick w TurboTax or pay $750 for a CPA?
I'm leaving an insurance bd. Confused as to whether I create IRA and partner w BD as hybrid, or join indie bd for hybrid . Payouts net of fees/grid similar from what I've seen. Help!!

Hi Fishes, I recently got shortlisted for a Product Manager position at Tracxn. There’s also an IPO coming up which is the reason I had applied. But I have read some horrifying reviews about the company on Glassdoor, indeed and other forums. I’m wondering whether it’s worth going through the interview process and I’d also like to hear opinions from anyone who has worked with the company or is aware of the company culture. Thanks.
1YOE as a strategy consulting generalist, interested in breaking into PM. Would love to know which books / courses will get me in the best shape for PM, and if it’s worth looking into with my currently level of experience. Thank you!
