With respect to applying to a role that you do not have experience in, should the cover letter be used to make a case as to why you’re interested in a position?

I want to apply to a role that is on the transactional side of my practice area (rather than litigation side), but I do not have experience with transactional work.

Yes. Acknowledging that you don't have the speceific experience they seek but do have transferrable skills and specific practice area subject matter experience is key. I also recommend explaining what you are drawn to the transactional side, instead of why you are looking to leave litigation.

Let’s start doing auction 🤣

Past:
• Give interviews.
• Get an offer.
• Apply notice period.
• Join the new company.

Now:
• Give interviews.
• Get an offer.
• Apply notice period.
• Apply to more companies now with "on Notice Period" while applying.
• Collect as many competing offer letters as possible. (Amazon is a must)
• Invite all the recruiters to a zoom call and conduct an auction.
• Pick the best and ditch rest of the companies.
• Ditch the auction winner also two days before the join

Hi all, I have just received news from my Google recruiter that my application was not successful for the APMM role I applied for but due to my interviews all being strong, they want to consider me for some other APMM roles.

I wanted to ask if anyone has had success through this approach and if there is a genuine chance of being accepted for one of these other roles despite being rejected for the one I applied for? Thanks!

I am looking for a paying placement in Dubai (currently based in Kenya working at a Chambers, Legal500 and ILFR ranked firm that is a member of an international network of firms).

Your advice will be highly appreciated.

She said the company would take this into account and make me whole. She later asked for proof of the equity in the form of my account statement and balance, which I provided. I have not yet received an offer. Is it typical for companies to ask for this documentation if they don't intend to make the candidate an offer?
