My in-state parents canceled bc they don’t feel safe being driven here by my sister (a doc) and her kid who plays sports. We will go there on a warm day and bring a meal to eat outdoors with them. They are very rational people who feel that another 6 months of caution is worth it as if they get it, it will not go well for my dad. He wants to see his granddaughters graduate from college and will forgo a turkey dinner for that. It’s sad, but if I got them sick how would I live with myself? If my kid got them sick how would she get over that?

I wish more people thought and acted the way you and your family does.

I’m staying home in Colorado....thought about driving to Texas but honestly that depends on the election outcome

What part of Texas? We have really seen increased cases the past few weeks in DFW. Idk that either party is going to make much of a difference before Thanksgiving.
I am not. My parents live in an area with high/increasing cases and it would be too cold to dine outside. My parents are older and my dad has a heart condition, so they are higher risk and have been quite cautious - as much as I’d love to see them and they miss me, I think visiting would create more anxiety and risk than they are comfortable with. Haven’t gotten to give my mom a hug since last December 💔 but it’s the right call for 2020.

Nope. My whole family is out of state and are quarantining anyway to be able to help out when my SIL is due in early December. I’ll be joining thanksgiving dinner via zoom.

Doubtful. My parents are in their late 70s with health issues. I’d have to fly to see them and even if I quarantine and/or test before I go, there’s still the travel.
Unless it is unseasonably warm and we can dine outdoors, no. Zoom holidays this year.
Debated the same...I flew on Saturday to see family and will stay through New Years. I am currently isolating at the house with my own bedroom and bathroom. I will get tested on Thursday and stop isolating once I get a negative result. Now that I'm here my grandparents want us over for Thanksgiving, but I don't think they're being careful (one goes to work full time while the other goes out shopping "occasionally"), so it may just be a 3 person Thanksgiving this year.
I live in the same as my parents, but seeing that they are late 70s, I won't be risking a visit for them and for us. We will be doing facetime and calls. No gatherings for us.
I live 20 mins from my parents and I’m not seeing them. (Los Angeles)
Thank you! I’m not too upset because it is what it is. Holidays and traditions are not more important than risking it all.

Not going to any group dinners/events, and I don't plan on doing Christmas either. Like everyone above has said, it sucks but is just how it is this year. I feel pretty confident that we'll have a vaccine sometime next year, so I'm not going to risk getting my parents or family sick this year.

We are loosely planning to get tested, strictly lockdown for 2-3 weeks following neg tests, and then drive 3 hrs (no stops) to post up with a family that has been strictly adhering to same protocol. We will strictly quarantine for 2 wks following At any moment anyone can pull out for any reason with absolutely no pressure

Unsure about thanksgiving. Quarantining for 2 weeks before Christmas
