Currently in the US but interviewing for a UK-based firm and role. The comp level they are throwing around is £250k TC. Is this reasonable for a Director-level role with 12 YOE? My comparator would be wait 18-24mo to become a consulting partner - in the US that starts at $450k/£325k. For the purposes of this question, assume I’m optimizing for initial comp, not long term potential, and not livability, Intl experience, WLB, CoL etc. Thanks!

What does your firm do for evening meals if you work late? Most of our offices bring in a meal couple of nights a week but will no reimburse if in town and working late at a client.
Thoughts on moving in-house at the end of maternity leave from Big Law? Will it burn bridges at my firm? I’m a mid-level currently on leave, and was just offered a position with a high-growth sister company of one of my firm’s largest clients. A part of me thinks that my practice group leader will be happy to have me there to bring future business his way, but another voice in my head says I’m just fooling myself and that resigning after a 20-week leave is bound to piss people off.

I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Moms, both husband and I are nearing the end of our parental leave. We live in a two bedroom in NYC. We are thinking of hiring a nanny. The plan is that I would work from one room and husband would work from another room.
