With the new top talent that’s now in the market because of layoffs how are recruiters handling applicants that are currently in the interviewing process? If they’re not a perfect ten across the board are you all now more inclined to not give them an offer because there’s something better out there?

I think we're all seeing through the entirely of our candidate pool. If someone is a fit, we're not going to count them out because we think there's a unicorn out there.

like

Like others have said, business as usual. Just because there are more candidates on the market, doesn't mean the ideal candidate profile changes - that profile is determined at the kickoff of a candidate search. The other big consideration is salaries at Twitter for example are not reflective of the rest of the market. Many of the companies not currently in a hiring freeze aren't paying P95 of the market - so depending on a candidate's comp expectations, they may not make it past initial stages of interviews for lack of alignment on comp.

No. It’s all about timing and if we are further a long with other candidates we aren’t going to slow down hiring. It’s also important to consider candidate experience

like

Business as usual for us. Our boolean searches are generating more qualified candidates than usual but that doesn't mean we are going to let go of what's already in our pipeline.

like

I don't think recruiters have the last word. I think they are in charge of screening the candidate and then passing it to the hiring manager and the people with whom the candidate will be working. Then, it is up to them to decide whether it is a good fit. Then paperwork and salary are discussed between multiple departments if not set already.

Yes, that’s true. But I do look at recruiters as the advocate and voice of the candidate when those internal meetings are taking place. So I would like to be put in the best position possible for them to be able to do so.

Candidates pretty much undergo the same process and we do the same as well. There are a bunch of strong ones in the pool of regular applicants as well.

Hmm I agree with the comments above. They all pretty much undergo the same process. Sure there might be someone better down the road but we don't hold on to offers in hopes of finding someone better.

I’m interviewing at two great tech companies and am in the last rounds of interviews at both, meeting with the execs. Both companies have expressed that they want to hire me regardless if the execs agree and are willing to find a place for me. Both have great company culture and benefits, and both are willing to meet my salary requirements. I wish I could work at both of them! If you were in this position, what other factors, besides the obvious would help you make a choice between the two?

The normalization of "on hold" by the usual suspects. Had 6 interviews in past 4 months with D_itte Get the verbal offer from HR. Yay. Fast forward to following Monday. Get thanked for my complimentary followup sent post-final interview. 48hrs later, same recruiter (on speakerphone) tells me job is now hold and "you must be upset" and good luck in your search.

Tacky AF. Tell me I was rejected by the shadowy 5-person board or it was given to someone who wanted less. Just not this b.s.

Littler CaseSmart remote jobs- anyone here work in this capacity? I'm interviewing and would love an "honest take" about how accurate the 1,500 hour billable requirement is, what the work life balance is, whether it is possible to take one or two week long vacations a year, etc.

I'm in the final round of interviews for two internal positions - both vertical. One has FTE's (my first such experience) and the other a much broader scope vs my current role

I had interviewed externally for a role on par w the internal roles, at a smaller and less established company. They confirmed +20% was in their range

How do I push back on my company if they offer less than that, if I do want one of those roles? Without a pay scale, what is the best way to approach?

How do you all deal with the guilt of leaving a comany/ team? I have been working at Microsoft for 1 year now, and seriously considering moving. I find the code base to be very legacy and I mostly work on obscure bugs that I spend so much time on, mostly due to navigating this large code base and not having much docs to refer to. Hence I find the job slightly unsatisfying, and that I could learn more elsewhere. However, I love the wlb, the team and company culture. The guilt stops my applying.

OMG! Why do recruiters go dark on you!? I had a great conversation with a hiring manager who said things like I can’t believe she (recruiter) found you, you are so polished, I want you to meet with the girl on my team -like I had it in the bag. The conversation with the girl on the team went well and told me how excited the hiring manager is and called her right away…. I email the recruiter to ask about next steps and nothing……

Question: I currently work as an inside sales account manager selling a wide portfolio of IT products. I’ve been recruited for a role that would be an outside sales role selling ONLY a software solution that Im able to sell at my current company (but usually don’t due to other options that we are compensated better off of.) The new role would have some overlap with current customers that I work closely with now (one being a VERY large client.) Would this violate a non-compete/solicitation?
