With the onset of Covid, most of our workforce is now remote, which means we need to collaborate with IT and order equipment for new hires we are bringing on. We are having issues with IT and having trouble getting them in line with what our process is (missed set up meeting with new employees, double ordering, etc). I wanted to reach out and See what your guys' process is with IT, and overall what the On-boarding is like when it comes to getting remote employees set up.

We tell IT what equipment the new employee needs. IT images the laptop and puts the right software on it, and gathers up the rest of the equipment - monitors, VOIP phone, keyboard etc.. They give that to our mail person who boxes it up along with step-by-step setup instructions, VPN and security authenticator instructions, and a bunch of company swag, and then ships it to the new employee.

Can someone explain to me what my cost would be if I took a 50k cares act withdrawal from my 401k? It says there is no 10% early withdrawal penalty but the income tax will have to be paid. If I withdraw 50k how much will I actually take home after applicable fees and NYC taxes? I'm trying to figure out if it is worth dipping into my retirement. Do anyone have any experience with this? Thank you.

Boss has WFH for 9months. I have been WFH for 2-weeks for travel quarantine/state guidelines. She now requires that I go back to the office to “show face” that HR is right alongside the essential employees. I have been more productive from home vs the office. I get the perspective of team unity, but is it wrong to feel there is no reason to risk my health? The company justifies increasing my covid risk (high-risk already) to “show face”, when my job is being fulfilled while WFH. Am I crazy?

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

I had my PHR back in early 2000, then made a career change to a paramedic (I know, right). I called SHRM and they said I'm eligible to test again even though I only currently have 1.5 yrs of HR.

I purchased the online study guide and it seems that HR has gone in a completely different direction - more operations related than employee relations etc.

Did anyone find this online training to be helpful? I test in July, so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks - lauren
