Woke up in a panic attack. Shaking and feeling my chest like it wants to explode. Really want to stay home 😔 but forcing myself to get to work.

Hang in, OP. If it’s been a while since your last panic attack, remember any skills that might have helped you in the past. There’s a good chance they’re still helpful. From one panic attack sufferer to another, i bet you’re doing better than you think you are 💖

@ECD - I am not sure it’s totally cultural. But, I literally think OP sits right next to me at work. For me: I’m have total imposter syndrome and can’t tell if I’m good at my job or not. I need more positive feedback (or any feedback) from management, but management is very time-strapped. Not their fault. In addition: I’m dealing with brand new mental demons that I’m not sure are completely related to my job. The good days are really good. But I wish I had the same sense of belonging that I perceive across my team and department.

My 3 panic attack tips:

When something bad happens and I go into that numb autopilot mode, I’ve learned that the minute something good happens, I have a panic attack. I think it’s my subconscious knowing something is wrong and the minute the pressure is released, all hell breaks loose. Hide.

When I’m on the verge, the fear of having a panic attack triggers a panic attack. If someone asks me what’s wrong or tries to comfort me, it makes it 10x worse. I had a friend who used to just give me a deadeye stare and tell me to quit being dramatic and breathe. Now I tell myself the same thing. It works.

Klonopin. When I’m anxious it’s always the worst in the mornings and I can’t pull myself together. I end up late for work and screwing myself. Klonopin has a really long half life, so you can take it in the evening, sleep well, and it’s still in your system the next morning, without the hangover effect.

Careful with Klonopin and similar — some people love it, but for others (like me) it is a nightmare. I had seizures after taking it for two weeks and felt like a drone the whole time. I still had anxiety but it felt like my head was under water.

That said, SP 1 gives some good advice and it is definitely worth trying. Just exercise caution.

Looking for tips to combat the effects of low estrogen. Doc was no help. I’m 43 YO F and low estrogen is causing mood swings, low libido, vaginal dryness, night sweats, etc. I don’t want to take estrogen and increase risk of cancer so looking for supplements that would reverse what low estrogen is doing. I am normal weight, exercise regularly, and have good WLB.

Anyone feel frustrated at times with the super aggressive sales personalities we deal with? My AE is always pushing on every ask no matter how minuscule it is.
