Women associates in BigLaw first years through third years: what would you most like to learn from a seasoned woman lawyer: 1. How to be confident in meetings and speak up appropriately in them every single time, 2. How to effectively run a meeting, 3. How to conquer fear of failing and learn to have your own back, or 4. Something else. If I ran a free zoom call for an hour for the first 4 people who were interested, would that help you?

Love this! Let’s start with issue 1 because I already have something prepared for that, and move on to issue 3. If you are interested, please drop me an email with your email address. I will set up some zoom calls to cover issue 1, then do issue 3 in a few weeks. I love giving young women lawyers a boost! You are all rock stars, and women should be doing more to help the next generation of women lawyers succeed. My email: brooksidegirls@yahoo.com.

Number 3 resonates a lot. I think the imposter syndrome is one that affect me and most female attorneys. It’s hard to have your own back when things get stressful or you’re under so much pressure and facing many deadlines, and on top of it all you fear not performing your best (especially in litigation.)

How to confidently, but with the appropriate tone, say what you mean without feeling the need to repeat yourself or put a question mark at the end of your sentence. Ie build in a thoughtful pause after your analysis / statement. Something I’ve personally been struggling with for 4-5y now and have still not managed to fully get over (and which I notice male colleagues do not have an issue with).

I can help you with this one on one. My email is below.

Friend wants to join consulting for the pay. I don’t believe she has the aptitude or energy for it. We worked together in a much slower industry, and even there she complained of being overworked. I’ve sent her resources to polish up her resume and links for roles but she’s insisting on texting/long phone calls asking silly questions. Today she wants a resume review over zoom! She comes without having done her homework. How do I tell her I’ve given as much as I can? How do I decline referring?

Hey guys. I have a soon to be nonprofit church struggling because they already started services (collecting offerings too against my advice) before things were set with an EIN and they gave an event already planned out and are trying to find a way to spend and collect before the things are in order. They want to know if one of their small business owners can expense and collect then consider it a donation. Is this possible? Any advice or loopholes that are Legal and will avoid issues later on?
