Women who fight for their place, fight not to be treated like an invisible scrivener, or fight to not be conveniently left out of credit allocations are branded and excised. Thoughts?

My only thought is that the more of us there are doing this, the harder we are to ignore and brand and excise.

At some firms yes. At others no.

You need to find the right platform. One where credit allocation is a true meritocracy.

OP, how many Vault 50 firms do you think have an executive committee with an elected membership that’s majority female?

like

Sorry. Thought I replied. One that I know of. Arnold & Porter out of DC.

It depends. I’ve seen deserving women who already got what they deserve and are happy, deserving women who get what they demand for without pushback, and deserving women who get the short end of the stick when they demand what they deserve. I’ve also seen undeserving women who demand things they haven’t earned yet because they assumed they would get it if they were men (which isn’t true), and undeserving women use sexism to excuse their own shortfalls (I.e. “I don’t have to learn this basic legal skill. You’re only asking me to have it because you’re sexist.”). It all just depends on the circumstances.

By popular demand we’ll be adding a google form to collect data going forwards. Look for that in the next few days. Anybody who has already submitted their data won’t need to input it again. That said, if you’re new, please post your info on the thread as well as the sheet. We’ve gotten some really terrific conversations generated from the thread. I want to keto that going.

Option 2:
- $250k 3 bed/1 bath fixer upper located at end of dead end street, houses on street all fixer uppers, located down the street from Option 1 (so also near new builds and restaurants)

So, I'm happy at my current job and have been there about 18 months. Our pay is probably 15% below market (AmLaw 100) but so are our billable requirements. Had someone lateral into our firm as a fifth year (soon to be sixth). They were kind of a retool and went from small law to the firm I’m at. They are still learning a lot of basic stuff, and I think it’s weird that the firm hired someone at that level as a retool. They sometimes ask me for help with stuff, but I’m just getting annoyed at this point. Can I just say “no” since they’re about to be a mid/senior associate who should know all of this?

Corp/securities associate and lateraled to a 40-50 attorney firm earlier this year. I’m a non traditional candidate and considered a 3rd or 4th year and make $200k base. Waiting on raise/bonus info but can’t help but wonder if I could be making $100k more at a larger firm and working similar hours. I put a premium on the people I work with and have gotten a good rhythm here as well as built up a good rep so far. For reference I have billed avg. 180-200 hrs a month. Any insights?
