Wonder how much more of this rat race I can take and starting to think about where to retire. What places are on your list and why? I need ideas and inspiration!

My wife and I are considering Portugal.

like

Just turned 50 and moved to Nee Zealand 2 years ago. Will (fingers crossed) be able to retire here around 67.

Portugal was 2nd on our list.

3 adult kids in the US makes it hard, but our youngest is here with us.

WF1 - excellent point. I should have just said PHX area because in Scottsdale you’re paying for the name. Quite crowded now too. Fun for the occasional dinner and outing but way more bang for your buck elsewhere to actually live.

I suggested Portugal above for a reason. We could live comfortably on both of our SS checks. And once our respective 401ks are moved to a Roth, we shouldn’t have RMD’s to worry about (at least as I understand the law).

We won’t be near our kids, so that might impact us. But there (were) daily flights back to the states.

How am I doing and what can I be doing better? Any recommendations are very much appreciated.

Tips for how you’re accumulating wealth with absolutely no financial inheritance/intelligence from parents? I want to retire early but am late in the investments game. I have a Roth IRA invested in a target date fund, max out my HSA and invest in REITS and ETFS, and contribute more to 401k when I have leftover $$. What do you guys do? Am i missing any smart moves here?

I stopped contributing to my 401K for the last three months in order to pay off credit card debt. I am 28 and have about 68K in my 401K. Was this a smart decision? I want to get out of debt as quickly as possible and I have no student loans or car debt.

Hi everyone just left my permanent role to go the contractor route. Currently employed through a staffing company so I am a W-2 but plan on going the independent route. They offer insurance and 401k. I understand I’ll need to start an LLC. Any advice or things you wish you’d have known when you first started? Would you advise I stay with the staffing? They take. 16% cut but the projects are lucrative

Can folks recommend good investment options for gaining Compound Interest, high returns long terms in your financial portfolio. Also do folks have any fiduciary investment planners that u can recommend

If I've maxed out my TFSA, should I continue investing through an RRSP or a personal investment account?

For context, I also have a good pension. My main concern is that while the RRSP will be nice to lower my taxable income now, I'm worried when I retire I'll have to withdraw too much from both the RRSP and pension. Thoughts?

Does it make sense to max out my 401k if I want to retire by 40-45?

Looking at two identical condos, each 1900 sq ft, however one is a duplex up and the other is a straight condo. My preference is to go for the one that doesn’t have a split level as it means the space is (or appears) relatively larger. However, the duplex up is going for quite a bit more so was curious which would appraise better and which would be preferred by most buyers since I plan to sell the unit in 5-6 years?
