I have been wfh with 20% travel at most for 10 years and I am still employed.

I think your desire to work from the office and get social validation has subconsciously made you take a stance against those who don’t share your same sentiment. When you’re entire premises is wrong.

There is still a value that onshore resources provide that offshore resources cannot provide, even when remote. In my experience, the onshore resources know when to leave the script and get to a point where they satisfy the customer. Is that always best practice? No, but if having slight flaws means you have 90% utilization versus 50% utilization of the new process/product, that’s a win no matter which way you try to sell it.

The only difference is TIMEZONE !!

Your whole transaction spiel is bs. Have you never used Webex? Just because the meetings are virtual, it doesn’t mean you can just take some offshore resource and put them in that spot.

likefunny

I assumed you were saying anyone who says that has a job of that is transactional and such. If the job is like that, then yes - you just need someone to do it, and outsourcing these jobs to other parts of the world has been happening for 20 years. It doesn’t matter where they are as long as they are skilled enough to perform the job. If you’re saying anyone who claims their can do their job from home can also be replaced that is where I disagree

Depends on how limited your POV is...

Haven’t most of those jobs already shifted?

Ok boomer. Technology let’s us interact and collaborate remotely these days.

OP not everyone feels like an “emotionally bereft alien struggling to comprehend the mysteries of human connection” because they don’t have direct eye contact on a work meeting.

Pretty sure KPMG already has a group of offshore people who do tasks that are “follow the script”

I know we all love the work from home (or do we?) but does anyone actually miss traveling for their consulting engagements and all the fun that goes along with it? The late nights at the office then the bar and random hookups and excitement and all that? Sure it’s a grind but I think I actually miss it too. Maybe I just miss seeing people at work or seeing people at all. I wonder if we’ll ever get back to that.

Hi all, I would appreciate your thoughts - I’ve been really struggling to adjust to long-term WFH and just have been extremely unhappy with it (feelings of isolation, burnout, hopelessness). I realize I’m not spending time on commute and such, not wearing uncomfortable clothes, but I’m still really miserable. I feel like most of my daily joy used to come from live interaction with people. I know many of y’all are really thriving on WFH and need your help / thoughts on how best to adjust. TIA!!
