Know it's still early, but want to put up a thread for holiday party insights this evening. #colorfulformals
For HR folks, what do companies do when you resign during the holiday shutdown period? Do they let you go immediately?
I literally can’t get myself to give a crap AT ALL. I used to be a stellar associate and proactive and on top of it. In the last year, I’ve been dropping the ball, not billing, just don’t care. I’m afraid I’m just done with it. Any tips? I’m a 5th year
I’ve had a very interesting experience with my manager as a new hire out of college. I’m all for constructive criticism, but feel like this is really destructive criticism with no aims of helping. One month within being hired, she told me that because I was so slow on picking up things, that she will have to work through her vacation to get things done on time. She constantly rejects my spreadsheets for things such as my font being Times New Roman 12 instead of 10, cont..
International vacation ideas from the west coast that can be done during a 3 day weekend that aren’t Mexico/South America?
People who left accenture in recent times, how much PTO does accenture pay out? Is it limited with the 240 or 200 hours cap? Or is all paid out in full?
I haven’t worked with a therapist before but know I’m totally burnt out and need some time off from work. Has anyone successfully started a relationship with a therapist and gotten their support to do an LOA shortly after starting with them? I’m worried because I don’t have a long standing relationship with a therapist, they’ll be resistant to supporting this. Would appreciate any advice
Has anyone ever quit to just take some time off? I’m financially stable and thinking seriously about doing it. I feel like my current gig is killing me and I can’t escape.
Is there an ideal time of year to leave a job? I left my last job in May and it totally screwed up that summer because I couldn’t really take a whole bunch of PTO. Now I know I’m going to leave sometime this year and don’t want a repeat of last time, but not sure I can make it another 6 months.
Ladies, what are you planning on wearing to the holiday party? I never know what to wear to 'festive' work events.
Taking some time off. Need some book recommendations. Some light interesting non-fiction. No self help or management books. Just interesting topics that won’t make me think about work.
I’m taking a few calls for new opps at a couple different firms and wanted to get a pulse on feelings from folks who actually work there to help me narrow it down. Agencies are: Weber Shandwick, Ruder Finn, FleishmanHillard and a smaller boutique called LifeSci Communications. From The sounds of other threads on here, I’m nervous about WS. Looking for a read on Work/Life balance, how well staffed they are, avg pay range (VP level), PTO/holidays/benefits, etc. So, how do you like working there?
Anyone else get anxious about requesting PTO? I know it's so stupid to feel anxious about it but I still do.
Created a design app prototype that’s meant to be a holiday virtual card for my girlfriend who I haven’t seen in a couple weeks since the recent covid spike. Anyone care to user test it before I send the link to her?
What do you girls wear to holiday parties ?
How many of you have actually taken paid time off this year w/o feeling guilty (or being made to feel guilty by others)?
Advice needed! Transferring from US Deloitte RFA to US Consulting in a month. I’ve had a 2 week Europe vacation planned, which now happens to fall 1 week after my new start date. Should I postpone my start date and take this PTO with my old group before transferring (I’d still providing adequate notice for transitioning)? Or should I ask new group if they’d allow my PTO trip and take it with them? Or should I cancel it all together to avoid conflict/awkward convo?
i know everyone says not to quit without an offer… but can someone who actually did this tell me the best/worst of it all and maybe how long it took to find your next role? was it significantly harder than trying to balance a soul sucking job while interviewing?
Have any of you quit to take a break - 3 month or a 6 month sabbatical to pursue other interests or just to clear your head and figure out what’s next. How easy was it to find a job after the break and how did you manage your health insurance? Any other things to keep in mind when considering a sabbatical beyond money?
Questions for a newer investor. I don’t come from a finance background but I’ve been educating myself on stocks and just started investing this year! As a 24yr old I’m in if for the long term. I started with an ETF but want to expand. I’d like to hear different opinions if people believe diversifying portfolio with different sectors (like individual tech and healthcare stocks) is important, or better to first buy more shares of one ETF then diversity?
Thoughts on exiting at a lateral level to the industry? Found an interesting strategy role and am in touch with the hiring team. However title is same as my current one (Sr. Associate). I know this title thing sounds superficial but wanted to get other fish’s thoughts on this 🙏
Wife and kid are going to be out of town for the next 2 weeks. Instead of wasting time, I’d like to do something productive. What would you do if you have say 3+ hours a day. Maybe self help, wealth creation type books, work out daily, take care of some things around the house.
Anyone know what a senior associate total comp at Hietman (Chicago) is? Any word on company culture? Department would be financial reporting and operations.
Going to be starting a new job soon (in consulting) after a break when I adopted a dog. She is still learning and I don’t trust her to stay quite through all my meetings. Do you think this is going to be an issue? How can I best manage the situation while we’re WFH?

Question for MBB consultants: Is there a set path to transition from a big 4 advisory (cyber) position to an equivalent consulting role at the big 3? Or is such a transition not possible without an mba?
My salary is 92,000 paid bi-weekly, and paycheck deductions amount to 31.7%. 6% is 401k and about 1.4% is medical/dental/vision leaving 24.3% tax rate between state (NJ) and federal. Does this sound right or too high? I don’t claim any exemptions on my w4
I got fired recently for vague performance issue reasons (which were never detailed to me) and it has completely gutted my confidence. Has this happened to anyone and have they come back from it?
Why are companies switching from Skype to Teams or Zoom? Educate me pls I don’t understand.
I’m looking to do the jump from senior designer to UX/UI designer for better pay and benefits. I’ve designed and developed multiple sites, did artwork for a gaming app, and do 3D/VR work. Is there anything I should learn or add to my experience to be a high qualifying candidate? And what is the ideal salary for someone with my experience? 7 YOE in this type of work
