Wondering if anyone did a PHD while being a consultant? I have a masters in IT in Business and was considering undertaking an industrial PHD, wanted to understand the feasibility from someone that has done it before.

That seems impossible.

....you want to get a PhD while working full time....as a consultant?

And also, does anyone know if any consulting firms participate in industrial PHDs? (As the partnering firm)

If you think that you can add another 50 hours a week to your workload then go for it.

I wouldn’t recommend it for your mental health and secondly I don’t see how that is going to be feasible with engagements. The consultants I know who have done PhDs have completed their studies full time and then gone back to work and not necessarily at the same firm. I’m also considering doing a PhD at some point. Good luck!

I looked into this briefly as I am interested in pursuing a PhD as well. Some don’t even allow you to work full time outside of the academia. PhDs are difficult enough to complete, adding the stress of consulting is surely a recipe for failure. I mentioned it to my leadership and they were supportive of me taking a pause to pursue it, but not balancing both.

🐠's need Advise. I am tempted to move to another big 4 for better pay. Considering speaking to PPED regarding my compensation before making a decision. As a senior 2 earning 89K. Is that standard?

I have been struggling with this for the past year. I had a team member who was working on a critical project for our biggest client. I inherited him from his previous director who quit...(contd)

What is up with all these design tests for interviews? I know I should say no but I just got laid off. I have only had one company offer to pay me to complete a design test. Why as professionals are we expected to give away our work for free?

My flight from DCA-> TPA literally just had to abort takeoff to let a 12 year old boy deplane. Ready for a damn drink!

Sprinting around the hotel room to get shit in my suitcase and make it to the client on time. I never learn my lesson and pack Wednesday night 🏃🏽🏃🏽🏃🏽

Hi! For the folks who have recently took the SHRM-CP exam this year, how would you describe the test and any tips you can provide would be helpful!

Random question - My dad took a whole life insurance policy for me when I was 15. Although the policy relates to me, the name of the policyholder is my dad and I would like to change it to me but keep the same beneficiaries. Is it possible to transfer from him to me? (This policy relates to my death btw)

Anyone in tech - how do you handle junior Dev dudes who are simultaneously green, and too arrogant to admit they don't know what they're doing / won't admit a woman might know more than them. Had a Dev on my team drop the ball significantly on a client deliverable, but keeps insisting he understands and wastes hours trying to figure out stuff on his own bc he refuses to allow me to explain it to him. If I had the time, I'd just take over and do it myself at this point, but I don't.

I am a Project Manager from IT domain, I am looking for Program Manager roles. Can someone provide me information on how it works? Can I refer to any documentation, this is specifically for Development programs.

Gonna repost this cuz I need advice for my call tomorrow: how do you ask about company culture/actual environment since no in-persons/on-sites are being done and the company has so-so reviews?

Thoughts on Goodby Silverstein & Partners? I'm curious about culture, work-life balance, mentorship, etc.

When do we get to know about salary raises? First year into consulting and just curious to know the $ figure.

Anyone from big4 has experience in having its H1b transfer filed within a week after accepting the offer?

Thankful for GB internet. Can’t imagine trying to WFH or keep my sanity if we were still in the age of dial up

Applying to industry after 2 yrs in a data-heavy strategy consulting role, and running into an odd problem: people are automatically putting me into a "heavy-quant" box and becoming apprehensive of my fit for a business role (strategy, FP&A, etc). 2 Qs: 1. Does this sound plausible, or am I overthinking based on a small sample? 2. How would you highlight your fit/interest in moderately quantitative roles? Consultants generally like my "Context> result> personal contribution" format of bullets

Just wanted you guys to know that this bowl is a godsend! I posted a while back about failing HR screenings. Everyone gave really helpful advice that I've implemented and I've been able to make it to multiple final round interviews

Any insight in to Publicis Health Media or working at Publicis in general? Would you work there over an omnicom / ipg agency if pay was significantly higher ?

Anyone know when holiday layoffs are being scheduled for this year? First week of December or end of January?
