I supervise lunch in my classroom but right after is recess so they have aides go out with the class so I can have my full lunch break. Works very well. First time in decades that I've truly had 30 mins for lunch. When my lunch time was the same as the students by the time I got them settled and was able to sit down to eat I had only 10-15 minutes.

Illinois School Code guarantees a duty-free lunch, and we have language in our contract. If a teacher does any kind of lunch duty, then the get release time at the end of the contract day.

Evey other day we keep our students to eat lunch in our classroom, and once a week we lose our planning period to supervise in school suspension. We are understaffed, and already exhausted. I don’t know how much longer we can go on like this with so many teachers and staff out

I bet no system is cutting back on unnecessary admin.

Our lunches are back to normal! It's great

Staff can sign up to get paid to supervise for breakfast and lunching the cafeteria. We have multiple schools in my district ranging from 100 to 900 students in a building. In the bigger schools, a teacher can chose to keep her kids in her room for lunch and receive the same stipend as the lunchroom supervisors. This has worked well in our district.

No, our lunch is protected in our contract.

Not mine!

Our duty-free lunch is in our contract, so they can't take it away. Let's be real: Red state here, they aren't social distancing in the cafeteria. Ask me how many kids have been quarantined this week because of lunch. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

We have never had duty free lunch. We are eating lunch in our classrooms now though. The students only leave our room for recess and specials.

Nope.

Not LAUSD.

They have at my school

Mine has; however, our admin tries to give us a student-free lunch at least twice a month.

We continue to enjoy our 40-minute duty-free lunch break.

Not yet this year, but yes last year. We also were required to come in 30 min. early one day per week to supervise students.

We have to walk our kids the the cafeteria and make sure they get their food and walk them back to the classroom where they eat their lunches. I have kids from 8-2:15 with no break.
