What’s a good compensation range to ask for a senior/lead position at an enterprise startup in SF Bay Area? Current compensation is $190K and some equity at another startup.
What’s the highest PE Associate comp you’ve seen or heard of this cycle? Curious to see if these firms will start dramatically increasing comp to match with recent IB increases, as they should
What's your location, YOE, position, and salary?
Our firm is establishing our target billable %'s at a small public accounting firm. Is there a website that gives target billable time % by staff level for the tax and accounting industry? Just started poking around the AICPA website, but would appreciate being able to save some time looking for it. I'm used to a lower % rate than what's being proposed (70% vs 85%) and don't want to cause undue pressure on staff, but do want to give a reasonable billable hours expectation going forward.
Can anyone provide some insight? I am curious about what a typical Series B company based in NYC would pay for an Enterprise CSM role, along with what is an acceptable amount of equity in that stage. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance🙌🏽

Any tips for developing a thicker skin at work? I have a really difficult time not taking it personally when those above me have a snippy, passive aggressive, taking stress out on their subordinates, or blunt communication style (especially over pings) - a lot of the time it doesn’t have to do with me (like they’re in a frustrated mood because of client delays) but it still really gets to me unless I know a concrete reason that doesn’t have to do with me that they’re acting that way
Looks like B4 partners makes the most $$ in the long run, even tech/FAANG or industry level senior roles doesn’t pay more then $600-700k, except a few roles like ceo/IB/PE/other financial roles/startup rsu (of u r lucky). Came to the conclusion after reading all the posts in this and other bowls. May be MBB, but if u add pensions, I think B4 is better. Thoughts?
Anyone familiar with the Wealth Management Strategy team at Morgan Stanley, and what they do?
It’s separate from actual client-facing PWM from my understanding

Hi All, I have overall 9 years of exp in Project Management. Is anyone hiring for PM or PMO roles?
Question: I am on an AE Hiring process. the HR said the salary range is 60k to 70k plus commissions and bonus. I told them, I am looking for 80k, considering my current salary and experience. So far I already had 3 interviews, things are doing well, only one more. Do you think usually companies can go high than the salary range, even though they told me the salary was less than I am expecting?
I’m looking to make a shift into recruiting. I don’t have any typical recruiting experience but I believe I will be very good at it. Im excited to learn, very personable, love helping connect people. My issues are: Ive never worked a commission job before & taking that leap is terrifying. Im currently at a job that pays about 30K more than most of the base pays I’m seeing & I have great benefits. Any advice? What to look out for? How to pick a good place? Where are you working/why do you like it
Returning to work from leave next week. What would you do on your first day/first couple of weeks if you’re on a completely new team and project?
As a millennial, I'm scared of the Gen Z kids entering my company at the moment. They make me feel old already.

I have an H1b which I received in 2019 and was valid till august2021, due to covid I wasn't able to travel and then I switched to another firm last year in November. If I get visa transfer, will it provide me a validity back as I haven't used any on site time on that visa.
Let’s not lower our hopes looking at US/EU hike %. India is a different market altogether. Also, in US, even a 10-12% hike is actually pretty good with even AC earning like 130k base. For Indian market, % like this doesn’t mean a lot and also, anyone good in technical skills will jump the ship if the % is low this time around.
Hopefully, I’m not wrong or else, 2022 is going to be last year at ZS. Not putting in 60-65 hours/week for an average hike % despite strong reviews.
Hey guys, how long out do you/can you apply for federal jobs, i.e. DOJ, AUSA, SEC etc.? I will be getting out of the military next Summer but unsure how far in advance to apply. Thanks!
I picked my current firm because they promised mentoring and substantive feedback. It has been over a year and I’ve helped draft two motions. Instead of redlining and providing comment bubbles, when I got back my drafted sections, they were completely different. My supervisor told this is how they do it and seeing the new version gives me an idea of what the team is looking for. I recognize there is some value to that but that’s just not how I learn. Anyone else experience this? Any advice?!
What are some good websites or apps one could use to find roommates in the Bay Area (except for Facebook)? Thanks!
Hey gang, anyone here work remotely (specifically out of state) for a NY based agency?
And if so, have you found a way to get a refund for your taxes paid to NY state? Or at least a large chunk of it?
For the people who earned the SHRM-CP, did you feel it was worth it? I have an indirect HR position, been applying for more HR focused positions and wondering if this would help. I got the CAPM (certified associate of project management) in December, but that hasn’t really changed things. Would love some opinions before working on another certification!

ZolaSuite? Anyone familiar and can provide some feedback - it would be greatly appreciated. Still can’t decide on Clio or PracticePanther, and now just came across ZolaSuite and got intrigued, doing some research and it shows comparable and more.
What would you say are the main perks of being at a small firm vs big law? I know the pay can be a lot less.
Plaintiff side question - comp is base plus % of fees. Firm has non equity split % with associate working on case. This normal for a non equity partner? Normal associate comp is full % when working with an equity partner.
I am a first-year attorney in a 3 person firm (I’m the third). My bosses put me on the PD appointment list to ensure I have work but I absolutely dread court appearances and litigation. I wanted to be a transactional Atty. Over the last 2 weeks I’ve been living in a constant state of panic and (embarrassingly) cry in the bathroom at least once a day due to stress. I’m getting a therapist but am seriously considering leaving the firm with no backup. What do I do?
Hi all, I have been practicing for 5 years (admitted in NY & NJ) and recently went in house. I just started a side business of writing blog posts for firms or solo practitioners. DM for more info!
Been thinking about striking it out on my own. Have some top notch litigation and transaction experience in the construction and energy space. I’ve represented small shops up through global players. Thoughts? Recommendations? Advice?
Advice for Of Counsel roles? I am of counsel at a firm where I can set my own rate and keep a percentage of collections, which varies slightly depending on whether the client is one I generated or not. I’m finding that a lot of my work is for firm clients where the lawyer negotiated a flat fee (and the hours worked are less, due to efficiency etc). What is the right way for me to be compensated in this scenario?
I just wanted to offer some positivity and encouragement in this last quarter! May the blessings continue pouring in while reducing the stress. As a newer partner, still in the earlier stages of my career, I am grateful for the insight this bowl provides.
Some success, now what? I started a solo practice July 2020. I’ve been successful in building a book of business sufficient to satisfy my overhead and provide me with a respectable income. I want to grow my practice somehow, but I’m stuck at figuring out how. I do mainly corporate transactional work and some litigation. Any advice?
