PwC FS - do you guys know how they're determining layoffs? People who are in projects are getting the boot which is scary. Apparently there will be more rounds and this week was just the beginning.
Relocated 3 days before pandemic, everything goes down the gutter and I get laid off by a horrible boss that didn’t think i was capable of handling the new role + COVID client/crisis mgmt, during my 90-day trial. Feeling of helplessness kicks in. Pregnant wife that had stopped working to enjoy her pregnancy, involuntarily lands a gig. She is super pregnant and working like a boss. Proud of her. But I feel even worse that she can’t rest and enjoy her/our belly. Haven’t been able to land any gigs.
I created the biggest rift I’ve ever had in my family when I left mid-covid for my first industry job, moved to a new city, started dating what I thought was the love of my life… only to come full circle. I’m forever the black sheep, got fired from a shit job, this city sucks, and he’s a half ass som’bitch that wasn’t worth it. Humble pie anyone? I’ve got a dump truck load over here… for fucks sake
I think I’m close to an offer, but if so, I’m not 100% sure I want to accept it...however, I do need a job after being laid off for awhile. Do I take it or wait for something I’m more excited about?
Pregnant and about to tell lead. So nervous with this economic climate, and potential layoffs before maternity leave in early October. (Cont’d)
What are the advices if get laid off before my H1B takes effect on Oct 1st this year? My H1B case just got approved, but won’t be effective until Oct 1st. There are lay off happening at my firm over the next 2 months which will be before my H1B effective date. I am currently on CPT, and my spouse doesn’t have status either. Thanks for sharing advices.
I worked at PwC and just got laid off for seemingly no reason. Does anyone have any leads for data analytics/data strategy/data engineering type roles? I’m happy so share my performance feedback as well. It’s pretty solid.
What if we get laid off? How F’d are we? I started my career in 2012 after the recession. The anxiety keeps me up at night. Apologies to anyone who has lost their job, but is there any hope?
Are firms done with their performance-based separations and layoffs yet? I have been holding my breath because I’m unassigned from now through the end of the year.
Laid off and on h1-b, am I eligible to claim unemployment compensation and where can I check in the state of California?
I collected my CPA bonus in March of 2020. If I get laid off (or coached out) before March 2021 will have to return the bonus?
Layoffs are on the horizon. Anything I should do to prep for the worst case scenario aside from pulling projects I’ve worked on?
If you do quite poorly on one project, but have done well on previous ones. What will happen? Can you get fired because of one bad review?
I work in tax... Will I get fired if I haven’t submitted my time daily? #MercuryProblems
Pretty devastated right now. Got laid off sometime back and after few interviews just got rejected after final rounds with the firm I really wanted to get in. Can anyone help me get a referral?
I’m over 40 (hence, the post in this bowl) and got laid off very recently due to agency business losses. It’s not very easy to transition to the more stable Client side. I’m thinking of WFH. Advice?
How is our 3-5k bonus a factor on whether or not people get laid off or not. To me this seems like an insignificant amount for the firm. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I’ve been saving a lot of money since quarantine started (mostly involuntarily, there’s not much to spend on). I’ve got 6 car payments left on my 2019 VW (it’s a good car, I expect to keep it for another 3 years at least- only 6000 miles on the clock) Should I go ahead and pay it off right away? The APR is 0%, so I’d not be saving anything in interest payments, but I’m not investing my recent savings in anything (I might need the money if I’m laid off). WWYD?
I got laid off a month ago, the market is crazy and idk when I’ll find a job next. I’m happy on the outside but crying inside :(
Dear super green junior female creative team: you can’t bemoan respectful, constructive feedback as “mansplaining” just ‘cause A) I’m male & B) it kills the wildly off-strategy, hacky, way over budget, impossible to do in 30 seconds, barely thought-through, sophomoric, zero concept idea you combatively keep presenting. Rather, it’s “tactful, benefit from my experience, clearing approval landmines, wanting you to make truly great work & get praise, save you from yourselves”-splaining. Grow up.
Ladies, do you ever travel with... toys? I would be mortified if I traveled and had to get my bag searched, so wondering if any ladies travel with one? If so, what?
How much does the Peleton bike differ from off-brand competitors? Outside of more performance stats, what else do you miss when using peleton app workouts on other bikes?
What's an alternative to check for someone's comprehension besides asking "Does that make sense"?
Anyone have thoughts on Locust Walk and what the wlb would be compared to a top LS boutique? Looks like it’s an investment bank looking for consultant skill sets (e.g., rev. forecasting, opportunity assessments, etc).
What's everyone's preference on personal CC in terms of rewards, benefits, and annual fees? Amex Plat, AA World Elite, etc
I got an offer at Citi bank for 52k but I want more. I told her I would think about it. Does that mean I can’t ask for more or do I still have a chance to counteroffer? If so please provide ideas. I don’t want to fall in the same situation I am on, being underpaid because I took first offer.
Anyone think of their job as a means to finance their real passion (side business/RE investing etc)? Vs working 60 hours a week “killing it” to make partner/MD?
Help me get 11 likes guys
Does anyone else find the LinkedIn announcements about getting offers or becoming a summer associate super cringey?
I left ey on 10th of December. When i can expect fy f&f calaculation sheet (not the compensation)?
Are there any New Yorkers here?
I am currently a “visualization consultant” but am really trying to upskill towards ML/AI. I don’t have a CS background but I do have a good skillset already of SQL, Python, and am working towards my cloud certs. Is learning ML/AI a stretch dream without a CS background or significant time dedication to learning?
Interviewing with KPMG’s M&A Services / Strategy team. What is the base salary for a Director position?
