The premise of this article seems to be that people who are “overly cautious” are just as bad as people who aren’t cautious enough. IMO, these aren’t at all equivalent. If you choose to stay home / wear a mask everywhere you go that fine; it doesn’t effect me at all. If you choose not to get vaccinated & spread COVID or consume medical resources then that’s a larger societal problem. I used to like NR but on a macro level their need to “call out” the left whenever they slightly criticize a conservative point of view is annoying.

The vaccines work and are effective NOW. That doesn’t mean that will always be the case going forward. Only a few months ago, everyone was predicting that this summer would be a summer of recovery. A more virulent variant threw that conventional wisdom by the wayside. There is no guarantee that the vaccine will continue to be effective a year from now, when a new variant is bound to be prevalent. The quicker we get everyone vaccinated and limit the spreading, the less likely it mutates and turns into something our vaccines dont protect us from.

I am also vaccinated and life for me is quite normal. But I’m not so deluded to assume that this respite will last forever. The sooner the rest of us get the jab, the more likely this calm will hold.

Exactly how I feel. Thanks for posting

Long post alert. Also, confusing post alert haha. So, I'm going to be divorced in the next few months and have 2 kids who'll be with me. Ever since this situation has been finalized, I'm becoming very conscious of our spend & have been tight about it. Covid has helped. But I noticed that even my grocery store bills are pretty high...like a single run to Meijer is $125+. Costco is like $200 or so. We've always had fresh fruits, nuts liberally used in our house. Fish Friends, what are the foods and recipes that you've started adopting in the COVID world? I'll start with my super easy flatbread pizza, improvised due to laziness and a lack of yeast and baking materials available. 2 cups of flour and a half cup of water. Add a pinch of salt and a drizzle of olive oil and knead. Then you just roll it out as thin as possible and add whatever you want! Anything! Bacon? Onions? Peppers? Mozzarella? Chuck the whole thing in a 500F oven for like 18-22 min.

It's been around 14 weeks since I filed my tax returns along with a new ITIN application for my wife through an in person appointment at the local Chicago office. My profile is still not available on the "Where's my refund" page. Called the ITIN helpline couple weeks back and they said neither application was in the system yet and this could be due to covid processing delays. Anyone else facing lengthy delays for ITIN / tax refunds. Thanks!

Best avenues to try get into MBB from a B4 MC in US?

Good luck to those who are going into their first busy season! Yes, it’s daunting at first - we’ve all been there (albeit, not in a remote environment amidst a pandemic.) My best advice is to take one day at a time (marathon, not a sprint). Remember audit/tax/consulting is not life or death, and you WILL make it through. Have patience with yourself and your teams. Find a mentor! Don’t forget you can always find some moral support (read: self-deprecating humor) in your fellow fish!
