Work in industry now in NYC in marketing. Is it the Culture or me but I feel like everyone just works long hours. I'm always the first one out the door by 530-600 and always get my work done on time.

Always feel like I'm doing something wrong when I leave 😑

I worked at a nonprofit in NYC and typical hours were 9:30-7; answered emails on weekends too! And no it isn't necessary to stay longer, you're good at boundaries. I think an unspoken reason why everyone seems to work on the longer side in the city is because there are a lot of industries with tough hours and makes it nearly impossible to meet up with people socially before 8. People will just hang out at their desks until drinks with their friends.

You are. You're doing you which is highly frowned upon gotta be a corporate slave like the rest of them. 😏

NYC is a different beast- only place where even in industry you work long hours. It's just the culture

Just go. People have different work to do some have different hours. enjoy yourself

You get your work done by 5:30, maybe you're not doing enough internal work or your team isn't giving you enough? Maybe you should spend some time improving skills? I don't think it hurts to be able to leave that early every day but if you're doing it long term then it might indicate something negative...

I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?

Hi all, have been approached about an interesting buyside opportunity but have a few q’s. I’ve currently got a role in an alts investment team (pe primaries, and a little secondaries) at a bulge that pays well starting in Jan. New offer is at a sub-$1bn fund and a bit hybrid investment team and firm strategy. Does anyone have insight to the Secondaries/Primaires comp range from VP up (salaries, bonus, carry, etc)? How is the culture vs direct PE? Thoughts on big firm vs small fund over time?
