Work in tax and am super burned out. Considered taking a leave of absence back in November and tried fighting through it. Now it’s January and busy season is starting up and am leaning on leaving without a new job lined up (have been on interviews and have received offers but nothing has been of interest). Any advice?

With this job market you can easily find a job. If you have savings/can afford to leave do it. Your mental health is more important than this silly job and it’s def going to be a very tough busy season with those new K2 K3 BS.

Thank goodness I got out of partnership tax when I did, lolllll it was bad enough when there were only K-1s

Op, did they approve your LOA? what roles are you considering? Did you try for an internal transfer?

Never went through with it and decided to keep working. Beginning to regret not going for it at the time.

I was in audit, did the same thing last year. Took 3 months off. If you can find a way to extreme budget/ you can cut as many costs as possible, it’s so worth it. Also helped me realize I needed to leave lol

Did you take a leave of absence or completely quit and take the break?

I’m a business/commercial lawyer with 8 years experience looking to relocate to Chicago from NYC area, while also trying to make the jump to in-house after only ever working at a boutique firm. It’s been 5 months and I haven’t had any luck applying to job postings on the usual sites (no calls, no interviews, nothing). I can’t tell if this is due to covid, the market, the fact that I don’t have any in-house experience, the fact that I live out of state, or something else entirely. Any insights??

I have noticed after making it through two or three rounds of interviews with companies like AWS or Google, and I don’t make it any further that when I go and apply for similar roles that I am almost instantly rejected. Is this intentional? Is this an ATS auto rejection? Other thoughts? Thanks!
