Work in tax and am super burned out. Considered taking a leave of absence back in November and tried fighting through it. Now it’s January and busy season is starting up and am leaning on leaving without a new job lined up (have been on interviews and have received offers but nothing has been of interest). Any advice?

With this job market you can easily find a job. If you have savings/can afford to leave do it. Your mental health is more important than this silly job and it’s def going to be a very tough busy season with those new K2 K3 BS.

Op, did they approve your LOA? what roles are you considering? Did you try for an internal transfer?

Never went through with it and decided to keep working. Beginning to regret not going for it at the time.

I was in audit, did the same thing last year. Took 3 months off. If you can find a way to extreme budget/ you can cut as many costs as possible, it’s so worth it. Also helped me realize I needed to leave lol

Did you take a leave of absence or completely quit and take the break?

Recruiter from Amazon had reached out to me in the past and I went on a phone interview casually without prepping much at that time. Of course it didn’t get much further afterwards. Fast forward now, there is a position I am interested in but I was told that I have to wait 6 months. Does this mean I can’t even get considered by other teams and pretty much done for Amazon for next 6 months?

How do you handle recruiter inbound calls?

I’m getting bombarded with LinkedIn recruiter requests to apply for/chat about open positions (FP&A, 5YOE). I’m happy in my current role, and not necessarily looking, but would move for the right bump in pay.

How should I strategically frame to recruiters calling/DMing/Emailing me that “I’m happy in my current role and would only be interested in moving for $X without wasting anyone’s time formally interviewing?

thoughts on INSEAD? I need to make a decision: got into their ‘21 January intake which starts in a couple of months. This is the cohort that has summer for internships.
Not sure if it’s a good decision to go right now. I’m based out of the US and I’m questioning how much real value add it will be. Plus with the pandemic situation I’m not sure how the job market will be for internships or even after I’m done. They’re also asking for an outrageous €10k upfront fee to reserve the spot!

I have a boss from hell. She’s the GM of my hotel and she is a mean girl that never grew out of highschool. She loves gossip. She will trash talk her employees with other employees and once her toxic garbage starts to leak amongst us peons she will send a group text telling us all to stop spreading rumors and to stop being bullies like she isn’t the mean kid with a magnifying glass torturing ants for no reason. I want to stand up but I’ve seen her retaliate on people who have tried to. Help.
