Jesus. Where does all your other time go? If you’re self-editing your billables downward for whatever reason, stop. That’s the partner’s call. I certainly understand being inefficient. I often take about 11 hours to get through 7.5-8 billables, but that’s due to lunch, dinner, and other breaks to clear my head. If your “working time” is actually all work, you should probably be billing more of it, unless that includes assigned work on non-billable matters.

Inefficiency is par for the course, particularly early on in practice. I would say 80% “in office” (back when that was a thing) to billed is pretty common unless it’s just a fire drill day where you don’t have a chance to breathe. Early on where you’re really struggling to figure things out 66% wouldn’t necessarily be out of whack. Uneven workflow, meals, nonbillable tasks, etc. can and do eat up a substantial part of the work day.
Realization might be 1% for all I know. But this is just something I noticed 😂😂
Sorry this definitely includes my lunch and breaks/personal time!!!!

You really want that % higher. I try not to have more than an hour or so of unbilled work time per day. You’re probably leaving some time on the Table

Uhhh I bill 10.5 out of 11, at least
