I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?

If you request PTO and they approve then it is on them to backfill. You should not be guilted into working during PTO. Sorry for the initial response was just being a smart ass.
Ask for a comp day!
There there. You poor thing.
@OP When I was a junior I worked a lot of vacations. I ended up buying my own laptop just so I could go on vacation.
I feel ya! I've been working each day this weekend but I'm freelance and making OT. That's the only thing that cuts the sting right now. That and a bottle of vino at the ready.
You're not wrong that it's unprofessional and shitty, but it's sadly the way a lot of places are. I also made a point of calling and emailing my ACDs and CDs on their vacations too.
@AD I know, but what's the point of taking PTO if i have to work through it anyway. is this normal everywhere?
You gotta set your own boundaries or the industry will do it for you. Not everyone works on vacation, only those who think they have to.
