Hi everyone! First time using this app. I always wondered, how are other IT help desk jobs? I’ll share how mine is.
I work at an MSP (Managed Service Provider) meaning we are the IT services for many other companies. It’s busy all the time and I get to experience all different types of apps, OSes, and almost every aspect of IT in this way. I make around 50k which is alright but its hectic as there’s too many tickets and not enough personnel. I heard this is common but I’m not sure.

I was put into PIP in my first company. I believed my manager said that it's only for improvement. I signed it. Later realized it's a termination plan. So I quit the company. But after 5 years I got a call from my First company HR for another role, I was happy to take that opportunity. But later HR called me and said they couldn't proceed for some reason. Am I black listed because of PIP? Please share your insights.

Thinking about making a switch. What do senior managers pull down at tsg?

Currently working at an insurtech as a Strategy Associate and was offered a position on the IT team by a SVP. The position comes with a decent pay raise, but my title would be Business Analyst. I brought up concerns about the title being perceived to be more junior than an Associate, but was told that it’s more akin to a Project Coordinator/Product Owner (company does not offer those titles). Am I being overly paranoid about this title change effecting my career progression?

New job original start date end of june. Pre screens completed timely but slow results. I followed up last week and also said start date move to july 11th because I need all clear to resign. Finally get all clear today and I want to push the new start date back another week but the recruiter says I should stick to the 11th. So I studied my butt off & got my certification. Yet I’m being told that even though my resume is impressive I need more experience. How have you told your reports to take care of themselves? I have one telling me about busy weeks where they skip meals, working out, and cut sleeping short.

They agreed to start giving me a heads up when they work OT, which will help me better balance their workload. At what point can I say, “Choosing to care for yourself is a personal responsibility?” We’ve had a handful of discussions about setting boundaries and speaking up about unrealistic timelines, but the message isn’t sticking.
