Are you a Canadian citizen? Because the Canadian government just shut the border to all but Canadian residents and US citizens.
If you booked your travel via personal reservation (I.e. no company record), and get stuck in Canada, I would not tell anyone and just work as normal. Still charge your time with location of your work office city. Obviously this isn’t on the “up and up” but these are extreme circumstances. Also I know lots of Canadians who do this during regular trips back to visit family.
Yes there are-tax specifically but if you’re doing client work in another country you technically need a work visa I think (though if you’re Canadian I’m not quite clear how that would work). I’d be very very cautious if I were you as this can get super messy from a tax perspective.
charging this week as vacation and yes I’m Canadian, but worried I might get stuck here
Hate to say it but that’s a risk you took. I wouldn’t charge while in Canada-it’s not worth risking your job over. If you do get stuck, you should reach out to your project leadership to assess the situation and then determine if you want to request formal permission (if that’s even possible).
Why do you Canadians keep working for the US firms
$$$
I work remotely internationally all the time. 🤷♀️
Huge risk. Don't do this pls! Especially on a OPT visa.
