Working in a small firm of 3 attorneys. Mostly immigration and PI work. How much commissions should I get for the cases I bring in?

30% or more. If your state allows referral fees you should be getting more than the referral fee as an employee

It’s more than I thought. Thank you. Time to bring it up to my boss. 😀

Not related question, but I work in a similar setting doing immigration, thrid year in NYC. If I may ask, what is your salary range?

I am also a third year at a small firm of 2 attorneys in NYC doing family and removal defense immigration, I make 103k per year.

Everywhere I have worked it waws usually 33% unless it went to litigation and then it went to 40%. That seems to be pretty standard.

Thanks for your answer! Very helpful!

Where are you based? I think that depends on your arrangement and agreement. But I usually go for at least 30%.

Dollar-cost averaging is one of the easiest techniques to boost your returns without taking on extra risk, and it’s a great way to practice buy-and-hold investing. Dollar-cost averaging is even better for people who want to set up their investments and deal with them infrequently. It’s one of the most powerful and easy investment strategies and it’s great for individual investors.

Is 2 weeks considered an excessive vacation? I've been planning a 5 year anniversary trip with my wife and floated the dates i wanted to take off to my Principal and he responded saying he's only ever seem people take 2 weeks for honeymoons and wasn't sure if it was ok. While his claim is untrue (precovid, he and MD, who were VP & Principal at the time, usedto take 2 weeks each summer), is a 2 week vacation for someone who's been at the firm for 5 years excessive?
