Working in Special Ed, does anyone else out there feel like ES in your school is not getting the support it needs? I come home feeling defeated everyday anymore...😔

What does ES stand for?

Emotional Support

YES, but it's not just this year in our district. It's every year for the 16 I've been here and the years before in another district. We just pull every resource we can possibly find and rely on each other for the best advice to handle problems. Funding issues in small schools around us are major issues for us. They keep talking about consolidating in our county. Parents are throwing fits, BUT we know it will help all those smaller groups of students get better programs, even if it means bussing to another school and combining with others. I look at it as a blessing that can't come soon enough.

I believe ES stands for emotional support, but I could be wrong.

You are correct! Sorry, I need to elaborate more ☺️

I work in tech, but a generalist - have done sales, delivery operations etc. trying to get experience in as many areas as possible before I go on my own. I dnt know where to start the journey. Are their any books or other material I can read/reference to think and plan about my entrepreneurship journey. I m in mid 40s based in t2 city US east.

Has anyone recently obtained a VA mortgage loan that exceeds their county jumbo loan limit? I contacted VA to understand my remaining entitlement and was told that even if I sold my current home I couldn’t exceed the county limit in my next purchase. I know he’s wrong because it clearly states on the VA site that if you have full entitlement there is no loan limit.

I’m a SPED Resource/Inclusion Teacher which I really love. I really like working with the Gen Ed teachers maybe because my background is Gen Ed. I’m noticing many SPED team members go straight to the principal if they have an issue with a Gen Ed teacher instead of going to the teacher directly. Is this the norm now? What happened to SPED working with Gen Ed? Maybe I’m old school, but this seems so wrong to me. Thoughts?

Hi!! What does your sped model look like?We were told to teach the gen ed curriculum w/ A&M to our pull-out kids & not focus on their goals cause we would teach them within the curriculum. Thoughts?

Parents want to send their children back to school not only for educational purposes but also for social interactions. I do understand that many children want that interaction with their friends and teachers. But I don't think it is going to be quite as rewarding as many think with social distancing and face coverings to be safe. No high fives, pats on the back, sharing earbuds to listen to a new song, or consoling an upset friend. Even facial expressions are lost. Tough times.

I am looking to find out what your school does with this type of situation. I have an 18 year old student who should have graduated in 2020, but at this time only has a third of the required graduation credits for my public high school. This student has been an EBD student since 1st grade, has an IQ of 96 and has diagnoses of ADHD and Mood Disorder. This post continues on the first comment due to a character limit in this section.

Hi! I'm a GedEd Middle School ELA teacher in Texas. This year I'm teaching 3 sections of coteach ELA and it's been a nightmare. I don't know if the coteach model is just a nighmare or if it's just the way my school/district has rolled it out that is making it a nightmare. Does anyone have experience with coteach? Any help is appreciated.
