At least £35,000 imho
You can do it for £30,000 too, but you'd just not have enough to really enjoy yourself and save for the future.
Depends on few things like, do you want live on your own or with housemates, do you want to be able to walk to work, how much you go out. £30-35k is surely doable but hoping you’re also factoring in other things when it comes to looking at your salary goals...? £30-35k is likely manager-ish level (maybe even equivalent to senior associate - senior exec as it would be in UK). I would firstly make sure you’re getting paid fairly for the level you’re at. I’m not sure what supervisor would translate to but sounds like more senior than a manager? Having moved countries myself, my salary goal factored in the additional lifestyle changes moving comes with like living closer to the office, making new friends, exploring sites of the city, traveling to other places on holidays, etc. also trips home. I’d be aiming for £40-50k or more but that does depend on exact roles. I know manager levels anywhere from £30-50k so do some research and talk to people about that your job should be on
I moved here recently:
1300 £ rent
500 £ living expenses
150 £ transportation
1950 £ to live decently
35k is enough to have some (small) fun without savings.
But check the salary survey from major players. Probably you can ask for way more.
Thanks all! The salaries are so much different than the US, nice to have a gauge of what to expect and aim for
I moved over from the US too, and it is a huge difference. I second checking Major Players salary survey, but also get a feel for how much you want to have left after rent and transport... It all depends on life circumstances, but you don’t want to move to the greatest city in the world (truth), only to be too broke to enjoy it
