Working on complicated case and sometimes forget/miss important details. Coming from non-business PhD background and ADHD aren’t helping. Any tools you use to consolidate large amounts of information?

Be open with your L&D coach about your challenges (don’t have to say you have ADHD if you don’t want to) and have them help you design a system. They are basically free behavioral therapy for your ADHD lol. I use folders and auto filters to help me queue up and respond to emails, one note for meeting notes (and a page for 1-2 sentence summaries of important documents), and Trello to keep me on task from day to day.

In terms of keeping track of pieces of info/dates/etc., try making it s team activity. I’ve been on teams where we all contribute to a running fat base, glossary, list of helpful documents, or team calendar. Bring it up in PTO to see if it’s help the group and offer to set it up if so. Good way to be a team player while also leaning on your team to help you keep things straight.

The super structured way of thinking never fell into place for me. Gotta find cases where your ADHD shines. I do well on strategy cases but can’t do process-heavy cases.

like

What exactly do you mean by “process heavy”? That’s a little nebulous to me. Can you give me an example?

By the way this bowl is so much more supportive and calming than the rest of fishbowl. I never read the main bowl any more. Energy in here is much more positive and encouraging.

Does it get better over time? The super structured way of thinking feels a little foreign to me

Interesting...makes sense. My current case is super process heavy.

Not surprised. Process+ADHD aren’t a great combo imho. I’ve found that strategy cases require more creativity and are thus a bit more unstructured. Downside is that they tend to have bad hours, so you have to bounce in and out of that area for sustainability.

Fact base* haha

Another vote for One Note! Can capture random info in a similar way to my brain AND it’s keyword searchable.

My first process case almost killed me at BCG - it was so tedious.

I’m in a process heavy, attention to detail case and I think this is going to ring the death toll for my career here.

Can you gamify it?...

It’s a CPI case- very simple. PL is super shocked that I don’t seem to remember simply things.
Don’t think I can gamify anything here.

Can you force yourself to write everything down? And just carry your notes around? I stopped trying to keep track of details in my head a long time ago...

I still write out checklists for things like how to pay my bills: website to go to, password, credit card to use, timing, because I can’t remember on my own. But I can follow a checklist just fine.

So I need some advice:

Some years ago, my Aunty (US citizen) filed a GC for my dad(her brother). However, they got into a conflict and haven’t spoken in the last couple of years.

Through her husband, we found out that the petition was approved but she did not tell him. Is it possible for him to still claim it even though he doesn’t have the case details ?
