Working remote from home in COVID-19 times I haven't been wearing my watches much at all to the point to think that I should just sell my collection and maybe just keep one (easier said than done). I still totally love watches but the wearing has suffered. Are you on the same boat? Has your relationship with your watches changed due to the current situation?

I am the opposite as well. This little hobby has keep me entertained and mentally stimulated during the pandemic/quarantine. Retail therapy really works! I bought like 5-6 watches over the past year and wear them daily. Hahaha.

Initially yes. But over the last few months I’ve been wearing them pretty religiously at home. I rotate almost everyday. every now and then I also just sit there looking at them.

I wear them more now than I did before. I'm not going anywhere, so I can wear whatever I want with less fear of scratches, everyday wear and tear, and damage for some of the more delicate and expensive ones. I was also an Apple Watch wearer so now is my chance to really feel connected to a normal watch again.

I’ve been rotating almost daily as well. Whether I leave my house or not, doesn’t affect my love for wearing watches. I don’t wear them for other people.

It’s almost over - why would you sell them when you’ll be able to enjoy them again soon ? You say you still love them. There’s your answer, you’ll be back to wearing them out and about with pride and joy in a few months.

My sports watches are getting a lot more wear now, since I’m no longer in a suit

I have been wearing the cheaper end of my range a lot more over Covid - Seiko, Orient, Swatch. I'm not wearing my Tudor or Longines much so I can relate re: my more expensive watches

My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.

Is it just me or have restaurants in the city really become insanely expensive? I feel like going out for a regular dinner (nothing special, no michelin star places or anything fancy) and a drink or two including tax, tip and potentially covid surcharges is now 100 bucks per person. Am I doing something wrong?

My brother in law’s parents just told us they’re not coming to Thanksgiving dinner – which we’re hosting this year – because we’re asking everyone to take a rapid test when they get to our place. We wanted to just make sure it was a little safer for everyone as well as safer for our 6 month old. Now everyone is a unhappy. Would you feel offended if you were asked to take a test?

I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist, but am I the only person who thinks the mass publication of the Omicron variant by the media was due to traditionally low viewership during the holidays? It seems like the Media wants to dictate COVID’s trajectory & demise to align with their business strategy. As overall viewership falls in a post-Trump era and waning COVID numbers, big media has to be a little nervous about audience retention.

I’m really struggling with making new friends and would appreciate any advice! Mid 20s and moved to a new city city last year during covid. I started a new job as a well. I understood that it would be a tougher time but I didn’t expect it to be this rough. I’ve joined joined junior league, recreational outdoor activity and sports teams, Bumble BFF, and alumni groups. I’m outgoing, and will start conversations and try to engage with others. I’ll even try to exchange numbers/social media (cont)

For those of you who spent a long time in big law (at least 10 years but more along the lines of 15+), when did you know it was time to do something else (maybe in the law, maybe not)? I don’t know if it’s wfh or just the work now, but I’m finding myself getting amazingly frustrated at things that barely bothered me before. I had an argument with opposing counsel last week and was seeing red for hours after that, and little things seem to bother me much much more than they would have before

My SO is a contractor and takes multi-month breaks in between projects. I’ve noticed for years that their personality changes (for the worse) when working, but WFH has made life especially toxic. I’ve tried broaching the subject from multiple angles but always leads to what appears to be blinding anger where they say very harsh /hurtful things. Any advice on how to handle?

Is this reasonable or am I missing something? I started maxing my 401k from year 1 and I hope to have $5 million or more by the time I retire around 60. Wouldn’t it make sense to put all of my yearly $19,500 401k contribution to ROTH 401k instead of traditional 401k? My reasoning is that I would pay 35% tax now and my remaining 65% would grow tax-free in ROTH 401k…. versus traditional 401k where I deposit 100% but every distribution will be taxed 35% assuming I make a lot in retirement.

How would you go about telling a company you don’t want to do anymore interviews? I was originally told probably two or three, then “one last one”, and now “potentially two more”. In each interview, they talk like I have the role and keep asking how much notice I would need to give as if they’re in a rush to get me in, but then schedule another round of interviews. Honestly the interviews seem more like meet and greets. Cont.
