Working remote this month. I was planning on visiting family in Vancouver for a few days next week, does anyone know if it's against policy to continue to work remote? Would rather not use PTO...

Do it. Nobody will care.

Technically you can't work remote overseas (there's an APR titled something like "Prohibition on International Telecommuting") unless it's travel for project work but people get around it all the time by charging time to your home tax jurisdiction

like

do not report your time as in Canada though! Just say you're in your home city. Otherwise it's "international telecommuting" which is forbidden

I am pretty sure you can.

Just be available during regular time zone hours.

Prohibited by policy to work remotely while out of the country.

like

Yeah isn't it relatively easy for security to know I'm working outside the country if they looked into it? I know it's super unlikely but really don't want to get screwed by something so small

like

I once worked remote for 2 months. Needless to say I found myself joining conference calls while standing at the pier in Oslo watching summer sun. The next thing I know i backpacked my way through Europe all the way to North Africa in those 2 months of working remotely.

Against policy to work in another country. Causes tax issues.

like

I did that while i was visiting family in vancouver

Tax issue and maybe immigration (permitted to work) too.

I did it before, just tell your manager in case you have to go into the office that week

My two cents: is it really worth even the small chance of it coming back to bite you in the ass just to save some PTO?

Agreed with @d4. Ex lived in Mexico and I reported my time there on a Friday once and got a shit ton of emails about policy and working internationally. Started expensing it to chi and no problem at all

If you are feeling sick or something during the day and WFH, do you feel comfortable napping it off and then getting back to work and working late if needed? I have friends that say this is totally normal and okay but I feel weird about it and can never actually rest to feel better if I do lay down

Anyone who got promoted did not get MA. The salary of a senior at the immediate lower level is almost equivalent to a just promoted person. E.g. salary of a senior A is around 10L, but of a just promoted AC is around 10.7 - 11. The salary of a 6 month AC is around 12.5L. The same type of gap is present at AC C layer, only magnified, differences going as far as 2L in a difference of 6 months. 1. How is this fair to promotees? "Treat people right"? 2. Are we really just gonna sit and accept this?
