Working remote, where should I move to?
Married + toddler. I like walkable areas (not too suburban). In LA now but it’s just too California- people are kind of annoying & it’s low energy for a big city, not to mention it’s expensive. Lived in Austin previously & loved it, was thinking of going back but prices now are out of control.

We have thought about it, any particular neighborhood recommendations in SD?

Have you ever considered a walkable medium sized town? Asheville, Savannah, Portland ME, Boulder, Provo? Some great towns are even smaller - Lancaster PA is a gem.

like

If you like Savannah, check out Charleston. It's a lot bigger which may help with the energy and adjustment. I moved to CHS a year ago and personally love it!

Dallas and Houston

Houston is walkable in midtown, downtown and parts of EaDo.

What are your show stoppers otherwise? Chicago saw a lot of exodus during the pandemic, you may be able to find a deal there. Austin is great, but like you said, has skyrocketed in cost. Parts of Dallas or Fort Worth might be an option if you can tolerate Texas in general. I think Portland is another area that has some very walkable neighborhoods, but has gone up a lot in price recently.

Florida. Gorgeous beaches.

West Palm Beach area is nice

Denver

Tried convincing my gf for us to move to Denver. She’s not about the cold…. Ugh

1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?

3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?

My unit has an ideal layout for work from home and a huge patio.

How would you ask for remote work without setting anyone off?

Making an offer. The sellers said they had 30+ people walk through the open house today, and are asking for best and final. They’ll make a decision on Monday. The list price is 775k. We were originally thinking of offering 700 to start since comps are around 735k. However, this is nicer than the comps renovation-wise. What would you all suggest we offer? We’d rather lose the house than overpay, so this concerns us.

I got pre approved for thrall asking price with 10% down
