Hi All!
I am currently a Senior Software Engineer(Backend) with 4 YOE. My current CTC is 21LPA (All Fixed) with additional Yearly bonus. I got a call from Google (Pune/Bangalore/ Remote) for Software Engineer - Backend. I have the following doubts but any insights are welcome -
1. Does the lower designation offered make any difference?
2. Kinda ambiguous, but what kind of hike or ballpark pay can I expect?
3. Any similar interviews experiences or focus areas I should prepare for?
Bain & Company Can any Bain & Company fish provide insight on Bain's expense policy? When WFH, at client site (outside of based city) and when working with local client...
It would also be helpful to provide insight on travel policy - first class in which flights, always 5-star hotels? Etc.
Thank you!

Hey Googlers, I’m going in for my GCP TAM second round on Monday and had a few QQs for you all:
1. For the RRK2 case study if there is a scenario for handling peak time workloads where the client did a lift & shift of a monolithic architecture, is the best suggestion to move them to micro services to enable serverless and auto scaling features?
2. I was told that they’ll give me 15 mins to prep after the case study is shared live, would you suggest I build a 1 pager or is that not required?Google

We have thought about it, any particular neighborhood recommendations in SD?
Have you ever considered a walkable medium sized town? Asheville, Savannah, Portland ME, Boulder, Provo? Some great towns are even smaller - Lancaster PA is a gem.
If you like Savannah, check out Charleston. It's a lot bigger which may help with the energy and adjustment. I moved to CHS a year ago and personally love it!
Denver
Dallas and Houston
Houston is walkable in midtown, downtown and parts of EaDo.

What are your show stoppers otherwise? Chicago saw a lot of exodus during the pandemic, you may be able to find a deal there. Austin is great, but like you said, has skyrocketed in cost. Parts of Dallas or Fort Worth might be an option if you can tolerate Texas in general. I think Portland is another area that has some very walkable neighborhoods, but has gone up a lot in price recently.
Florida. Gorgeous beaches.
