Work-life balance input at Alston and Bird, NYC. Website says billable hour requirement is 1950. Is that the minimum or the expectation?

Talk to me about schedules, please. I recently moved back into an IC role and am once again responsible for developing project plans. I absolutely loathe building schedules but I can’t seem to pin point why. Maybe because building a good one with dependencies takes forever or because no one looks at them or because they seem outdated. Why can’t prioritization do the work for us? How do you all approach schedules? Thoughts? Ideas?

How introverted are you? EVERY time I’m around a group of people I wind up exhausted. It’s almost funny. I’ve learned to be present and I can handle the room, but when I leave…100% need a nap. It’s so predictable that I even share my calendar with SO. He schedules his WFH calls to avoid that hour after my in-person meetings. Smh. Is this weird??

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?

I’m client side now at a big corporation’s in-house agency and I cannot imagine going back to 60+ hour weeks, low pay, minimal benefits, and the uncertainty/anxiety of agency life.

I applied for a job at Visa and was contacted the same day. A few days later I had a 30-minute screening interview with the hiring manager. I knew I was very early in the process since the job had only been posted for a few days. It's been 3 weeks and I haven't heard back, even after reaching out to the recruiter.
