You don't like the clients you're exposed to and want to get into some different industries

like

You really can't think of any other reason you'd want to leave EY than a bad review?

like

lol I'd talk more about "fit" say the style of the firm isn't a for you the culture of your group etc. just make sure you know something about the culture of the firm you're going to isn't the culture you're describing as the one you don't fit in to. All of the big4 have minor differences in their culture and love to hear about how theirs is better than the next ones.

like

I would play the culture fit card... tell whoever is asking that you are looking for the place you can stay for a long time and be successful. Offer no examples in this case as it will only lead you down the road of disparaging your current firm.

like

Just say you are looking for new opportunities. Keep the negativity out of it, from both sides. Don't need to, just don't tell. If asked directly, play the culture for card, like previously stated.

like

Haha, thanks man(ager)

like

Lol. Well give me some examples. I didn't mind the clients. Keep in mind it's year 1

Same here OP. I was thinking about the same. Just finished 1st year and wanted to stay for about 3 years but got put on PIP because of one bad review. In high chance I'll have to leave too.

Usually I play the person. Before I commit to a reason, I try get them to talk (when it's a similar situation, which I try to avoid of course. This is damage control). Then I latch onto a reason that I can sense they expect to be the case. Kind of like a psychic reading fraudster.

What are you going to say/do PWC 1? I've let recruiters reach out to me the past few weeks and met with them. Going private too soon seems like throwing money away

How would you describe the culture of EY compared to that of other places, general mid sized firms?

Problem is I'm really not that picky and don't want to seem that way. Need ammo!

If you want to go to corporate the you can say you would like a work life balance, if transfer to another B4 then I'm not sure but I don't see any positions opening though. Honestly if I were you I would wait and see because you may be fine. Sometimes one bad review is ok

I wanted to have a backup but wait and see.. without being too sneaky. That brings up another point. Maybe if they are not sure I'll be promoted, they'll give me a Pip where I technical still have a job for a few months but can apply elsewhere. That's the kind of flexibility I'm seeking but maybe I'm just too anxious

Hopefully you'll be fine!

If you're jumping to a mid-size firm, talk about how you want more opportunity to take ownership of projects earlier and accelerate learning, more client facing opportunities, maybe talk about work life balance (if they firm you're interviewing for is known for better work life balance).

They met me. Turns out they weren't even recruiting for their firm itself but it's an accounting firm that also does recruiting for companies, and they told me nothing new. That must be big business with so many different search firms

Baker Tilley or Robert Half? Both have "arms-length" affiliations with firms (even though they could be sitting in the same cube farm as their actual client service peeps).

I was a month in as a Workday HCM Consultant with Accenture. They immediately throw me into the HCM courses to obtain my WD HCM certification. There are three parts HCM Essentials, HCM Applied, and HCM Practical. The passing score is 70 or above. I scored a 62 on the Essentials portion, I passed Applied, and at the end of this week Practical. During class, I received an “immediate connect” Team call and I was fired because of my low score. I'm devastated, and shocked. Yesterday was my birthday.

I got laid off from EPAM Systems on 12th September and LWD was same. Today I got 3 months and 12 days salary for September as severance pay. I got 1 lakh as JB which has also been waived off. Is being “iced out” a thing? Is it new? I keep seeing references to it in posts, and the claim is that partners actively stop giving work to an otherwise decent associate in order to use their low hours to justify the layoff. The crazy part is that I’m even seeing some people claim that V5 firms are doing it. Can this be true? What is the logic behind that? I personally think it sounds like a reach.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Back to an almost empty gym for the first time after 18 months of at-home work outs.

Pros
- Bench press only down 20% from 2020
- Got to judge people’s gym attire again (shout out to my dude doing curls in a weight vest)
- Sick chest pump on peck deck

Cons
- No bros to share aforementioned chest pump with
- Squat down 40% since 2020
- Can’t walk rn
