Would a degree from top 5 universities make a difference in the job market at all? Also, what industry salary is considered attractive for a CPA auditor with 3 years in PA in Socal?

Degrees from top 5 universities will likely get you an interview, so it does make a difference.

1. I’ve got one - I don’t think so. It’s nice, but not going to make a bad candidate good. 2. Idk about the area

Thank you all for your responses! Manager 1, luckily I have no school debt as everything was paid by scholarships including housing.

Mostly depends on which schools have a big recruiting presence where you want to go. For example, I’m in TX and for some reason the firms are extra competitive for recruiting and start way early on the Texas schools: UT, A&M, Texas Tech so you’d have more of an edge in that case going to those schools. I went to a top 25 school in the Midwest and it was more difficult for me when applying because most of the spots had already been taken by TX students by the time recruiting started at my school.

If you have a degree from a top 5 university and you’re picking PA you’re definitely pursuing the wrong path... As an experienced hire the degree may help (alumni base benefits) but at the end of the day it’s about the experience.

Feel kind of silly saying this, but getting more concerned about covid-19. I’m 28 y/o, generally healthy but think I may have high blood pressure, which I’ve read raises risk. Anyone else feel similar

I don’t get why the entire world is freaking out about Covid19. (1) be cautious, (2) don’t visit elderly relatives, but the way I see it- everyone’s going to come into contact with it- it’s inevitable

Anyone else still have the pinned post about the A wanting to WFH? Super irrelevant now (and tbh I find all pinned posts annoying and wish we could opt out...)?
